Setting Interviews For A New Job: Do The Opposite!

Job hunters can be very passive: posting resumes on job boards instead of frequently searching them; letting inept recruiters contact them instead of finding recruiters who make things happen; being too optimistic about a job prospect, saying "I might as well check it out - why not?" and then saying "I knew that. Why did I bother?"; wondering why so much time passes with so few results.

Almost every candidate could be twice as pro-active as they currently are. Instead of waiting for openings to find you, you need to be looking for openings.

Finding your perfect job is about choice: the choice to apply - or not, the choice to accept an interview - or not, the choice to return for a second when you're invited to do so - or not. It's not as much about accepting an offer or not, because by the time you get to that stage - if you've been doing your homework - you should know if you want to be that far along in the game. If you don't, you should have cut out earlier.

Finding your perfect job is not about putting more eggs in your basket as your search goes on, it's about taking them out of your basket.

It's why I speak so often on the importance of knowing who you are and what you want. You must know what motivates you, what factors you're firm on and on which ones you'll compromise. For instance, do you function better in a large environment or small? Corporate or non-profit? Team focused or self motivated? You do this by examining your previous jobs - what you liked and didn't like, what worked or didn't, and why.

You can't go looking if you don't know what you're looking for. Not only that, but you'll wait for it to come to you. You may be saying, "Wait! I contacted some recruiters!" and "I did some networking!" or "I've answered ads!" But that's not enough - and while it's more difficult when you're employed, when you're unemployed you have nothing but time. And finding a job can be a full-time job.

Once you know what you're looking for, start placing eggs in your basket. Comb the job boards, research search firms that specialize in your discipline, contact and choose some recruiters, network with your co-workers from previous jobs, contact employers at companies in the area that seem attractive - introduce yourself, ask for advice, see if they have suggestions or connections.

You find opportunities that you wouldn't have known about if you'd waited for everything to find you. You become energized instead of discouraged. And as you learn more about the personality of each company, the management style of each hiring authority, the description of each job, you make the decision to leave the egg in the basket or take it out. But the point is, if it doesn't fit, you're making the choice to take it out, rather than the company making the choice for you.

Obviously if something comes along that appears to fit your profile, follow it up. But my point is having a lot of opportunities from which to choose isn't a groovy thing if few of them are viable. So don't wait around to see which of those iffy things come through. Chuck them over your shoulder and get after finding what you want!

Change is an anathema to most people. It's scary and uncomfortable. When you're job searching passively - especially if you think you're pro-active - you don't have to think about what if you make the wrong decision, what if you don't like the new job, what if you become unhappy at your new company, and "Oh, I miss that job I had five years ago! I wish I hadn't quit!"

But in fact, that's a fallacy. The only thing being passive about job hunting does is ensure that your fears become actualized. To avoid those fears coming true, you need to get out there and make it happen. The process may be scary, but the result is a relief. And the result is with you far longer than the process is.

So instead of being passive, be pro-active and aggressive. Instead of throwing eggs into your basket, know what you want so that you can throw them out. Instead of becoming inert because you're afraid of the potential results, eliminate them by thinking of ways to discover hidden opportunities so that you get the result you want.

The person controlling the process is you. The person responsible for finding your perfect job is you. The person who must live with the outcome is you. So it's your choice: do you want to do it the passive way? Or do you want to do the opposite?

Don't Leave This Stone Unturned In Your Quest To Make Money Online

Description:

There is a mistake that is made by thousands of people over and over again. This mistake was also made by me, it is thinking that you can join just any affiliate program and make a lot of money very easily online. Wouldn't it be better to learn from someone who has already made all the mistakes for you and can now tell you what does work and what doesn't?

Content:

Identity theft, Credit card fraud, Internet scams, if you listen to the news, you've heard those phrases. Alternately, you've seen the ads promising that if you just do what this website says, and please read the fine print about mortgaging your home and selling your children to a slave ring, you too can make ten million dollars. It's enough to make anybody who has been thinking about trying their hand at a home business making money online have second thoughts.

A gentleman named Stone Evans had the same worries you're having. He was interested in internet marketing and other ways of making money online but couldn't seem to find a way past all the scams. So for three years, he researched a variety of ways to make money online and came up with a way that actually works that he is passing onto others. He is one of the many who has figured out how to make money online.

No matter what you've thought of doing to make money online, the old ways are still the best. In this case, simply transfer what you see in any town or city, businesses that sell needed products or services, and put it online. Affiliate programs, in other words, taking what somebody else is selling, and then reselling it yourself at a profit, are a good way to make money online via internet marketing.

Using a web site, it's easy to use affiliate programs and start your own home business. Reputable companies use your site to make money of their own. The premise of this type of internet marketing is simple -they put their ads on your web site. Details on how to set up a web site for this can be found at http://www.gregstoponlineinfo.com. When somebody clicks on their ad, they're redirected and if they buy the product, you make a commission. It's their choice to click on the ad link, thus they don't feel harassed by a pushy salesperson. They get the product needed; you get a share of the profits.

You may be thinking it sounds simplistic. In the case of affiliate programs, it truly is simple. Nobody, who is being truthful, is going to tell you that next month you can quit your day job, but the possibility of being able to make a living via internet marketing is very real. Do some searching, ask questions; don't just take my word for it. You may find that if you put some effort into it, there really is a pot of gold at the end of the internet rainbow.

Building a Home Internet Business

Description:

We live in exciting times technologically speaking. Not only are more people able to work from home, many are now capable of building a home internet business.

Content:

We live in exciting times technologically speaking. Not only are more people able to work from home, many are now capable of building a home internet business.

The idea of building a home internet business sounds like an excellent prospect to more people every year. There are so many things a person can do and be successful that it would be impossible to list them all. Not only that, but entrepreneurs are coming up with new and innovative ideas ever yday for building internet businesses. Being freed from the leash of an out-of-home job and being our own bosses are both big incentives for pursuing independence.

Another reason for considering building a net business or other type of work we can do from home is the fact that the economy has changed over the last few years. These days corporations and smaller companies as well, are cutting expenses any way they can. It's not unusual for companies to eliminate jobs by the hundreds. In other words, job security is no longer what it once was, and the idea of creating a home business sounds better to many of us than ever before.

If you or someone close to you is among those contemplating owning a home internet business, there are some things to be aware of. Unfortunately, in just about every area of society, there are scam artists anxious to take our money. You can go online looking for ways of building a home Internet business and find lots of opportunities to get rich quick. Promises such as those always sound tempting and too good to be true (which they almost always are). When you get involved in building a web business, be especially careful of any person or company that asks you to invest money.

Something else you should think about is that building starting an internet business doesn't necessarily mean you need to be a technical expert. There are certainly opportunities for the technologically gifted, but there are numbers of things you can do with a computer that basically only mean that you know how to access the internet and send emails. Some people have the mistaken idea that building a home internet business means you have to understand everything there is to know about the internet itself.

For instance, when you're building a home business, you may have an idea for a résumé writing service. You don't write them on the information super highway. Your client would send you his or her particulars and you would write them up in your word processing program. You would access the internet only to email the document back to them. You might even sell a product over the internet, but that doesn't mean that you have to know how it works; you just need to know how to use the functions you require. So if building an internet business has sounded like too much for you to handle, be sure to do a variety of research before you give up your dream, or plunge in too quickly.

Building a home internet business can definitely work for some. The most important thing, as with any business endeavor, is to learn every possible thing about it before you take the plunge.

Creating Business Predictability Can Hold The Key to Success

Description:

If your business is on a rollercoaster, try these techniques for creating a more predictable outcome

Content:

Every company has processes; some are clearly defined, others are implicit. Business processes are the way a business does things. Implementing measurable, repeatable and predictable business processes are how companies build predictability into their business and transfer knowledge throughout the organization. On of the many benefits of implementing predictability into a business allows companies to continuously improve while reducing cost, become more efficient, effective and productive.

The need to implement predictability in a business occurs for several reasons: mergers or acquisitions, inefficiencies, cost control, lack of process effectiveness, competition and global pressures, just to name a few.

Characteristics that would indicate a process is a candidate for improvement and predictability can include any process that has inherent delays, transportations and storage requirement, low ownership and accountability, high rework, significant paper handling, same problems keep reappearing, high waste, poor feedback system, focus on quantity not quality, long cycle times or long process times.

As important as it is to continuously improve your business be careful not to become so internally focus that your relationship with clients suffers. Many companies see great results in implementing predictability and over time they spend more time working on the activities of the process instead focusing on the expected or intended outcomes.

One company I worked with refused to let a proposal go out the door until it was reviewed by more than 20 people during a monthly two-day configuration review meeting. This resulted in the sales organization fining ways to circumvent the process in order to be more responsive to clients – not a predictable come that a company would want. In many cases the configurations being reviewed were not the same configurations being presented to the client because the process just took too long.

How do you approach implementing predictability in your business? The methodology described below is one I use for all my projects. It has eight steps.

1. Planning & Organization – Know what you want to accomplish: drive out cost, make the company more responsive, implement an empowering employee culture, etc. This ask the question: What behavior do I want to drive to get the desired results.

2. Data Gathering & Recording – What data do you need to gather? How do you gather that information? How does the data gathered support the project objectives? Is the right data being gathered?

3. Analyze Data – Take what you learned and create a baseline process. After the baseline is complete you can better understand the implications of making a change to the existing the process.

4. Create Work Analysis Report – Document what you uncovered and distribute the results to the correct audience for validation and approval.

5. Implement Predictability – Redesign the process to drive the expected (or predictable) behaviors, cost saving, or productivity defined in the planning and organization phase of the project. Make sure the new process is consistent with the objective of the redesign.

6. Analyze Risks – Understand the risks associated with the planned changed. Do a risk analysis and create a contingency plan in the event certain risks materialize.

7. Create Implementation Plan – Many times when processes are changed companies fail to integrate the new process and tools into the business. It becomes an add-on that just creates more work, without reaching the desired results.

8. Create Cost Benefits Analysis – There is a review of expected cost and benefits during each step of the process. This step is nothing more than the formalization of what you have learned in the prior steps.

In summary, poorly designed or implemented processes are the root cause of many problems. A process that has inherent delays, low ownership and accountability, high rework, significant paper handling, high waste, long cycle times or long process times are good candidates for process improvement.

Benefits from process redesign include: a clear definition of roles, responsibilities, expected time frames and process objectives as well as improved employee morale, improved productivity, reduced cost and Improved performance.

Bridal Gowns - How To Find The Perfect Wedding Dress

Description:

Style, colour and ceremonial importance of the bridal gown worn by the bride during the wedding ceremony depends upon the culture and religion of the couple getting married. White is the preferred color of the bridal gown among the westerners.

Content:

Style, colour and ceremonial importance of the bridal gown worn by the bride during the wedding ceremony depends upon the culture and religion of the couple getting married.

White is the preferred color of the bridal gown among the westerners. Creamy shades such as ivory, ecru and eggshell are also used in making bridal gowns. Queen Victoria of England, wore a white bridal gown when she got married to Albert of Sax-Coburg in the year 1840. Since then the white bridal gown became the norm in all marriages. In the earlier years, bridal gowns were made in any colour except black. Innocence of the childhood and purity of heart was symbolized by the white bridal gown.

A bride to be can spend weeks and sometimes even months looking for a perfect bridal gown because of the variety of designs and styles available. Determine three things - theme of the wedding, time of the year the wedding is held and the budget - with these three things finalized, picking up the correct gown will become easier.

Choose a gown style depending upon the style and formality of the wedding function. In a formal wedding it is better to wear a formal bridal gown. Besides a white bridal gown, another appropriate choice is ivory which is also considered as a formal wedding gown. Bridal gowns in pink, peach and ice blue are also becoming very popular.

The average retail cost of a bridal gown is around $700. Prices of designer and premium gowns start from $2000.

Maggie Sottero, Mon Cheri, Marisa, Pronovias, Mori Lee, Davinci, Demetrios, Bonny, Eden Bridals and Mikaela are some of the popular designer bridal gowns.

When selecting the bridal gown, take someone close to you and who knows what is best for you. This will help in getting a gown which is not radically different from the usual style suitable for you.

It is better to ensure the bridal gown is comfortable and it is not restricting your movement. Getting a bridal gown can be a demanding process so initiate the process well in advance. Compare the designs from various fashion magazines and also go through family photo albums to know which will be the most suitable style.

Prior to committing yourself on a particular design, try different types and designs. If the bridal gown is custom made, allot six months for the making of the gown. Too many friends accompanying you during the shopping for gowns will only confuse you and you may end up making an incorrect selection.

Earning A Part Time Income From Home

Description:

Realistically, if you want to earn a part time income from home, take the money you would spend on programs available online, put it in the bank and earn extra money from the interest.

Content:

Realistically, if you want to earn a part time income from home, take the money you would spend on programs available online, put it in the bank and earn extra money from the interest. Not all of the programs, just a large percentage of them. Most of the ones claiming to be looking to help you get rich are usually looking to line their own pockets instead. When you see a program offering a reduced rate on their program to help you make tons of money, usually for a limited time, wait until the time is up.

Revisit the program and if the price did go up, then you missed the opportunity. However, most likely the same outdated add will be there or the offer will have been extended due to such a huge response. They are not kidding anyone. If the response is that great, the price is going to go back up. Do not forget the old envelope stuffing ploy. You sent in your two dollars with self addressed stamped envelope and received instructions on how to place the same ad in the paper to which you responded.

Pretty soon, you will have all these envelopes with two dollars in them and people clamoring for information. You copy the same flyer you received in the mail and send it out. Now you hope some prosecutor does not get one and charge you with fraud. It is doubtful you have made enough money for bail. Many opportunities are genuine and a few bad apples are making it tough on the honest sellers of money making programs.

When ever you see one, be skeptical. Do not silence that inner voice of caution and go jumping on the first bandwagon that passes your house. Any honest company is going to be willing to answer your questions and help eliminate your fear of being duped. If your program comes with a guarantee, get it in writing. Also get a contact name and address as well as a phone number so if you do decide you want a refund you have someone to turn in if you cannot get it.

Do not send money for work at home projects without fully investigating the opportunity. While there are a few valid companies that will charge for supplies and for building you a website, it is never advisable to pay for the privilege of working for someone. You are looking to make money on a part time basis, not spending money. By being cautious and skeptical you can quickly rule out opportunities that are going to cost you money in the long run and find an honest way to earn part time income from home without spending a fortune to do so.

Zenaida Lorenzo...

An interesting name, derived from Zenobia, Queen of the wealthy city of Palmyra in the Arabian Desert, and in Latin, a feminine form of "Zeus." Indeed a powerful name, but quite appropriate for an incredibly self-driven woman, rather adequately described by the words "motivation" and "prosperity." Zenaida was the #1 earner in her home business in 2005, though she didn't start off with a silver spoon, didn't have the best education, and generally had a rough time just living as she grew up.

Zenaida began life in an ethnic neighborhood, primarily Puerto Rican like Zenaida herself, in Dover, New Jersey. The family was so poor that there were a few times when she went hungry and had to wear the same clothes to school more than once. It didn't seem to matter then, as many of the families in her school had similar problems. Poverty was a way of life.

"Welfare was much better then," Zenaida remembers. But she can still recall coming home to a bare cupboard at times. School trips were out, because there was no money for them. There just wasn't money for anything, and many times, not enough for food.

But when she was about seven years old, she moved with her single mother and four siblings (another child would be added later) to another neighborhood, which bordered the Anglo part of town. The most difficult part of that was that she would have to attend an all-Anglo school, a place where it would be extremely difficult for her to fit in. She went from a school where the student body was 70-80% minority to a school where 95% of the kids were Caucasian. In the early 1970s, this was about as different as night and day.

The school administrators had no experience with Hispanic children, for one thing, and to make matters worse, Zenaida was severely dyslexic, though nobody seemed to realize it. Her teachers told her mother, "There's something wrong with Zenaida," implying that the child was mentally challenged. The fact that her mother didn't speak English and that there was no father in the house only compounded the issue.

Zenaida failed her first year in the new school, which was 2nd grade. She went on to repeat the pattern in third, fourth, and fifth grades, as well, without anyone understanding what Zenaida's problem really was. The girl was not only alienated from her classmates because of race, but because she just had no way of getting help with her problems. Her mother just kept pushing her ahead because her mother just didn't want her to fail. Zenaida's mother was uneducated, and didn't understand the consequences of her decision.

Yet, dyslexia wasn't Zenaida's only issue. She was also ADHD--she had attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, a condition that wasn't even recognized during the time Zenaida was growing up. ADHD sends thoughts through the brain at rapid speed, likened often to a ping-pong ball game going on inside the person's head. What ADHD meant for Zenaida was that she was easily distracted and easily bored. The hyperactivity only added to those issues, making it very difficult for her to remain still for any length of time.

At age 13, Zenaida was not just going to school; she was working and paying her mother rent. By the time she got to high school, she was working two jobs to help support the family.

But in high school, Zenaida began to flourish. Her artistic abilities came to light and she began to design her own clothing. She even won 2nd place in the school arts competition. Then, in her senior year, Zenaida wanted to work in the area where she had found her only success--fashion design, and she tried to get into college. Yet, her grades weren't good enough to go to the schools of her choosing. She was functionally illiterate.

About that time, Zenaida left home for New York City, and she found a video tape of a very old book, one that inspired millions and continues to do so today--Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich." Zenaida poured over the book, working very hard to comprehend its forceful tenets of focus and persistence in the face of resistance. And at 21, she went back to college.

Her first step was to run down to the local Barnes & Noble and pick up a 5th grade reader because she was intent upon getting a college degree. She started to realize how the words jumped around on the page before her, and it wasn't until she shared her trouble with her friends that she learned that all along, her problem had been dyslexia. Zenaida persisted in her learning, until she taught herself to read.

At 25, she got a job working for a bankcard system in sales, and was the top earner two months in a row. Her self-esteem rose. In fact, it rose enough to secure a job with a newspaper, also in sales. She lied on her application, and said that she had a degree in liberal arts from the University of Puerto Rico, where she had moved and lived for a short while.

And her boyfriend continued to help her. Unbeknownst to her employer, her boyfriend at the time, was writing all her sales correspondence, then her boss started doing it for her, too. By the time he had figured everything out, Zenaida was important in the company, and was making a great deal of money for them.

But that wasn't the end of Zenaida's career. She decided that she wanted to work for the world-renowned publisher Conde Nast, and asked her boyfriend to help her get a job with the company. Yet, he told her, "I can't keep writing to your clients." In fact, he told her she couldn't get another job, until she learned to read and write.

So, she set to work. She was determined to learn to read, no matter what. First she bought two books about getting higher scores on the SAT--"Princeton Review Word Smart, Volumes 1 and 2." Her friend and her boss taught her how to speak properly without the ghetto slang, and after work every night, Zenaida would take an index card and choose a word from each of the two Princeton books, beginning with the letter "A." On the front of the card, she would spell the word, write its phonetic pronunciation, and on the back, its meaning.

Zenaida played games with the cards. She read an article from the "New York Times" each day, which took her about forty minutes. If she didn't know a word that was included in the article, she would look it up in the dictionary and then, add an index card for it.

She got to the letter "P" before stopping her routine.

She was finally functionally literate by the time she was 29.

Zenaida bolstered her knowledge of history by going to the Museum of Modern Art every weekend. She bought audio-taped biographies of the artists, which as with all good biographies, drew in the history of that person's time, the culture, the politics, and so on. She hung on every word.

And she prospered. Her achievements led her to making a commercial for then Mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani for the local disabilities center. She also received a proclamation from Mayor Newman of Dover, New Jersey for teaching herself to read and for speaking to local high school students about dyslexia, using the theme "Anything is Possible."

Zenaida also came to excel in business. She was making 6 figures a year, and at 34, decided to go back to college and to continue until she reached an MBA. When her company was sold in 2003, Zenaida was forced to take a 30% pay cut because there were no other jobs. Soon, she wasn't meeting her obligations, and decided that there had to be a better way. She started a home business. In 2005, after less than one year with her home business company, Zenaida was their top earner, making close to $1 million in sales.

Though Zenaida is an incredible inspiration, and someone worthy of the people that follow her, she says, "When I was in my twenties, I was very angry. I would look at successful people and I always thought that if I could only read and if I only had an education, I could have the opportunity to be as successful as they are. Today I realize that the reason I am so successful is because of all the disadvantages and disabilities I had to overcome. They made me strong, persistent, and gave me the courage to look to alternative businesses. There are so many people who today, have every advantage, but they still work for others and earn a fraction of what is truly available. Today, I have total time and financial freedom. My goal is to empower others to see what is available to them, and to help them overcome their self-imposed limits."

If you were to follow one person toward success in business or in life, Zenaida is certainly a woman to follow. She has helped many people to succeed at the same level she has succeeded herself. Today, she's eager to help more people live the life of financial freedom and to make herself the best person she can be.

What is a Niche and Why Do you Need One?

Description:

No matter where you go online, you are likely to hear the same thing. “Before you can get started with your online business, you must find a niche.” You will do well to pay heed to this advice, especially if you are new to Internet Marketing.

Content:

No matter where you go online, you are likely to hear the same thing. “Before you can get started with your online business, you must find a niche.” You will do well to pay heed to this advice, especially if you are new to Internet Marketing.

Each day, thousands of people go online in search of, you guessed it, WEALTH. So many, tend to jump right into those markets that are already so completely saturated with competition and then wonder why it is that they are failing to make any money.

If a person has unlimited money, time and patience, they may have a chance at succeeding. But what about those who do not have unlimited supplies of these resources, it would then be much wiser to start your online business having a smaller niche market.

So what is a niche anyway?

You could purchase anyone of the hundreds of e-books telling you all about niche markets and get the longer answer. Or you could find the definition of a niche from the dictionary. But to give you the shorter version, niche simply means individual or distinct.

Seems everyone and their mother wants to start an Internet Marketing business. The big guns are making their money in this niche market, so it must be the way to go, right. Wrong, that’s the problem. So many people have years of experience in this area, that they have totally saturated the market. So, when someone new tries to compete in this broader market, they will likely not have any chance of success.

Susan Ward on About.com, defines Internet Marketing as “the strategies that are used to market a product or service online, marketing strategies that include search engine optimization and search engine submission, copywriting that encourages site visitors to take action, web site design strategies, online promotions, reciprocal linking, and email marketing". Anyone who is new to starting an online business will not know enough about all of the areas above to be able to compete in this fast pace market.

So can a new person have a chance at becoming successful? Yes.

But you must think smaller – think niche!

You could possibly come up with any one of the following niches just from the definition above:

Copywriting
Linking
Marketing
Email Marketing
Web Site Design
Search Engine Optimization

Even if you are already extremely experienced or lucky in any one of the above niches, there is still a lot of competition out there in these broader niches. You may decide to do this anyway in the end, but spend some time exploring smaller niches within the more broad areas. This may lead you to finding a niche that you are better suited to anyway.

Finding just the right niche market can be time consuming, for this reason using a resource such as Wordtracker can be helpful. Even though you can find similar software programs on any number of sites, Wordtracker will help break a broad site concept down into many smaller niches.

What you will end up with by using software such as Wordtracker is a list of keywords relevant to your niche that your can focus your business on. Choose a smaller niche so that you will have a better shot at being successful with your business, rather than a broader topic such as Internet Marketing.

Keep in mind, that in order to be successful in any business, it all comes down to supplying a product or service that the public has a demand for and the market has room for. Discover the right niche and you will discover that you are on the right path.

What can the Emerald Passport business module teach you? And, could you possibly be a subject to a lawsuit?

The numbers say you are a significant contender. This could cost you everything you have, harm your corporate image, and ruin your life.

The Emerald Business Series makes it so minimal to understand how to circumvent any likely lawsuits with some straightforward asset-protection policies that are very effortless to put in place. If you are in any business involving people, products or possible creditors, make sure you do the right thing to save yourself from harmful business pitfalls.
.
In every business, your ability to attract credit often makes the difference between starting and not starting your concept, running and not running your plant, delivering and not delivering your order. It is a fact that nearly everybody must often rely on borrowed money. The Emerald Business Series succinctly shows how relaxed and useful it can actually be to attract the funding and finance your enterprise. Here you discover how to find the money you need to get your business up and running.

You can also learn how to guard your financial identity! Every year, hundreds of millions of dollars are stolen from American businesses and individuals by criminals using fake financial facts. Techno-predators gain seemingly straightforward access to your financial profile over the Internet. Then they search your financial assets for theft opportunities, or to find justification to launch lawsuits. You must ensure your identity security against major theft since it is likely no one else will!

Everyday businesspeople usually worry about and abhor taxes, but as an entrepreneur and business owner, you will soon come to realize there are many ways your corporate makeup will benefit you by the significantly reduced taxes. The Business tax module trains you how to take advantage of some very simple campaigns every business can employ that will lead you to forgotten and hidden shelters. These may be something that even your own bookkeepers may have left behind.

This is not an advertisement but the aforementioned course is something you can not afford to miss! So what are you waiting for? Take your business future by the reins before someone else does it for you.

A Bird's-eye View of Biotech Jobs

Description:

In this article Biotech Job Search,Biotechnological Research, Biotechnology Education, Clinical Research Jobs, Biotechnological Products.

Content:

The term "biotech," short for "biotechnology," refers to the application and manipulation of biological resources to develop products and processes that fulfill industrial and other human objectives. While popular imagination tends to latch onto controversial fields of biotechnological research like DNA typing, cloning, and stem cell research, the fact is that biotechnology has commonplace applications ranging from bread production to wastewater recycling that influence our daily lives. The consequence of this wide reach of biotechnology is that the number biotech jobs continues to grow faster than the numbers of jobs in other sectors.

The Divisions of Biotech

A great number of industries are directly influenced by biotechnology, and it would be difficult to mention all of them in a short article. However, to provide a
broader perspective, jobs in biotechnology can be grouped into three functional categories:
Research and development: Considered by some to be the most prestigious division of biotech research and development (R&D) creates the frontiers of
biotechnology and sets the paradigms that influence both humanity and the biotech job market. The three major divisions of biotechnological R&D are research for discoveries, veterinary sciences, and bioinformatics. Jobs in this sector are usually reserved for life scientists.
Clinical research and safety: Once a functional process or product is developed by R&D, the necessity to establish trials to determine the impact of the product or process on public health and safety emerges. Biotechnologists working in this field ensure the safety of biotechnological products and processes.
Compliance: Issues of compliance with respect to biotechnological products and processes—in terms of both quality and standards and rules established by the
state—create openings for biotechnologists.
Openings for biotechnologists are also available in the following specific areas and functional fields:

Medicine and Pharmaceuticals

In this broad field, the following functional areas need biotechnologists:
genetics, including medical genetics, genetic counseling, and genetic nursing
organ transplantation, reproduction, and regenerative medicine
public health and safety, which includes projects ranging from vaccine development to wastewater treatment by bacterial colonies
gene testing and genetic therapy

Agriculture

Under the broad heading of agriculture, the following functional areas rely on the application of biotechnology and consequently are the areas where biotech jobs are to be found:
development of genetically modified variations of plants and seeds development of biological pesticides and nutrition identification and protection of endangered
species, including artificial breeding verification and authentication of costly food products
Bioinformatics
Under this broad heading come:
computational biology
supercomputing
statistical and actuarial functions
data analysis, data transfer, database creation, and other data-related functions

Law

With the rise in the use of biotechnology, openings for biotechnologists have also opened up in the legal field. Openings are principally located in the following functional areas:
patent specialties and litigation
academia
ethical, social, and legal issues
forensic sciences, including gene testing for identification purposes

Guided Missile Development and Space Technology

Biotechnologists are required in organizations engaged in manufacturing guided missiles and space vehicles. Functional areas include:
creation of closed artificial environments
creation of life-supporting equipment and systems
research into the effects of space on biological systems
cybernetics

Engineering

There are many opportunities for biotechnologists in the field of engineering. Biotechnologists working in this area may be involved in:
designing bioprocessing containers and equipment
creating new energy sources such as biofuels
biomedical engineering

Education

Obviously a need for biotechnologists who can teach will always exist. Types of opportunities available in biotechnological education reflect the needs of

universities and traditional academic structure.
Besides the above fields, there are myriad other divisions of applied biotechnology, including life-science research, anthropology, history, military, bio-science

communication, and chemical manufacturing.

Biotech Job Designations

Biotech job designations are as varied as the fields in which biotechnology finds application. Though designations can reflect the imagination of the employer, some standard, industry-recognized designations that are related to biotechnology or the application of biotechnical knowledge are veterinary assistant, veterinarian, technician, technologist, chemist, pharmacologist, laboratory technician, chemical technician, engineer, computer system analyst, health service worker, physician, biological scientist, biotechnologist, and agricultural technician. One's designation depends on the organization, industry, and sector in which he or she works, and job designations can be superficially misleading.

How To Set Up Your eBay Seller Account The Easy Way

Description:

If you think eBay might be a good place to make some extra cash, then you're right. With 157 million shoppers, and 100,000 new users each day, eBay is a hot market.

Content:

If you think eBay might be a good place to make some extra cash, then you're right. With 157 million shoppers, and 100,000 new users each day, eBay is a hot market. It is an excellent place for potential sellers of all experience levels to quickly and inexpensively set up shop. The user-friendly environment makes it a great place for the budding entrepreneur to learn the ropes while taking very little financial risk.

This article will provide tips and warnings of potential pitfalls that will assist you in setting up your eBay seller account. Following these instructions will lay a solid foundation for the long-term success of your new eBay venture.

Setting up Your Seller Account

There are two important things you should consider prior to setting up your eBay seller account. The first is what email address you will use, and the second is what your User ID will be.

You should avoid using a free email address for your account if at all possible. The best solution is to use an email address on your own domain, the second best solution is one with your internet service provider (ISP), and the final and lest favorable solution is to use a free email address such as hotmail, yahoo mail, or gmail. I recommend using separate email addresses on the same domain for your eBay and PayPal accounts (we'll talk about PayPal later). This will help you keep your auction and payment communications separate.

You should think carefully about your User ID prior to registering with eBay. You are going to want to brand yourself in a way that your customers remember and recognize you. Your eBay User ID is an important element of the branding process. You are free to change your User ID later, however this is not advisable if you can avoid it. Changing your User ID may result in your customers not being able to find your auctions later.

When selecting your brand or User ID, you should consider what you will be selling and what image you want to present to your customers. If you already have another business that your eBay business will tie into, then you will want your eBay User ID to reflect that. In that case your ID should probably be your existing business name, or an abbreviated version of it.

If you will be selling primarily collectibles, then your eBay User ID should reflect that in some way. If your focus is cheap items in general, then your ID should emphasize cheap (my first eBay User ID was 99_cent_guy, and all of my auctions started at 99 cents). If you're going to specialize in college textbooks, then your ID should indicate that in some way. Ensuring that your User ID reflects what you sell will assist greatly in ensuring that existing and potential customers are able to find you when they want to purchase what you are selling.

The use of website addresses (URLs) and email addresses in eBay User IDs is prohibited. I have personally found a way around this by using an asterisk before and after the URL (*www.yourwebsitehere.com*), however doing this could result in eBay requiring a change to the User ID.

In this age of the internet and millions upon millions of people having access to computers Online Shopping is definately the wave (more like FLOOD)of the future - and may be the death knoll of the all the old fashioned stores that we remember from our childhood. store to store this year... AGAIN!) - to her utterly complete shock - that she could investigate the possiblilty of doing her. Holiday shopping online this year. When she got finished
laughing and pointing at me - we actually discussed the merits of online shopping. At first glance - the price of items found in online stores
appears to be higher than in the old fashioned stores (except for the possiblty of online auctions) but when you take every aspect into account - time - gas prices - people hassles - I
believe you'll see that the advantage goes to shopping online both in costs and the hassle of it all, and as the price of fuels continue to rise, as they surely will, the better online shopping will look. There is definately something to this idea of shopping in your bathroom robe - sippping coffee, watching the morning news, from the comfort of your favorite computer chair and all the while avoiding the demolishion derby in the parking lots and the gaggle of people flocking to the stores in the same fruitless suicidal mission as yourself - especially during the holiday season. Holiday shopping will drive even the sanest of us all to suicide.. or at the very least.. homicide! So I say ... stick with online shopping from now ON!

Performance Measurement

Description:

Performance Measurement is a fundamental building block of a total quality organization.

Content:

Bob Pearce

I. Introduction

Historically, organizations have always measured performance in some way through the financial performance, be this success by profit or failure by liquidation. However, traditional performance measures based on financial information do not provide the help towards a business’s quality journey, because they do not give process performance and improvements which the customer sees. In a successful total quality business, performance will be measured by improvements across the whole business, as seen by all stakeholders.

II. Why measure performance?

“You cannot manage what you cannot measure”
“When you can measure what you are speaking about and express it in numbers, you know something about it”
In the cycle of continuous improvement, performance measurement plays an important role in – Identifying and tracking progress against business goals; identifying opportunities for improvement; comparing performance against both internal and external standards. Reviewing the performance of a business is also an important step when formulating the Strategic Business Plan. Measurement plays a key role in quality and productivity improvement activities, the main reasons being:

• To ensure Customer requirements have been met
• To be able to set sensible objectives
• To provide standards for establishing comparisons
• To provide visibility and a scorecard for people to monitor their own performance
• To highlight quality problems and determine areas for priority attention
• To provide feedback for driving the improvement effort

III. A simple Performance Measurement framework

A good framework will focus on the “customer” whether internal or external and measure the right things. Performance measures must be:

• Meaningful, unambiguous and widely understood
• Owned and managed by teams or individuals within the business
• Based on a high level of data integrity
• Done in a way so that data collection is embedded within the normal procedures or processes
• Able to drive improvement
• Linked to the Strategic Business Plan

IV. Steps in the Framework

There are four, which are continuously implemented and reviewed:

• The strategic objectives of the business are converted into desired standards of performance
• Measures are developed to compare the desired performance with the actual performance
• Gaps or variations are identified
• Improvement action is initiated

A business needs to evolve its own set of measures, using any existing ones as a starting point in understanding current performance. Consider the use of the Balanced Scorecard, as discussed in another article. To ensure that the measures kickstart the improvement cycle, they should be in the following main areas:

• Effectiveness, or Actual output divided by Expected output
• Efficiency, or Resources actually used divided by resources planned to be used
• Productivity, or outputs divided by inputs

V. A data collection/reporting system

Key elements are:

• Set up a data collection system
• Agree method for establishing current performance
• Identify possible sources of benchmark data
• Decide how often measure is reported
• Establish measure owner

VI Implementation

The measures, targets, improvement initiatives and a plan with timescales and designated owners should be represented as part of the Strategic Business Plan, and cascaded down through the business so that everyone is aware of the requirements.

VII Critical Elements

The critical elements of a good performance measurement system are:
• Leadership and commitment
• Good planning and a sound implementation strategy
• Appropriate employee involvement
• Simple measurement and evaluation
• Control and improvement initiatives

Market Research Online Survey Tips For 2007!

Description:

Join the survey boom with our market research online survey tips. Start earning extra income for 2007!

Content:

Who is eligible for a market research online survey? Quite simply, anybody. From students looking to generate extra money for their schooling needs to work at home individuals who like the idea of earning money using their computers. And the best part is, the rewards are excellent when compared to the time required to complete surveys.

Are there still opportunities to get involved? Sure, and the number of companies recognizing the power of soliciting the views of consumers on their buying and spending habits means more and more are turning to paid survey methods to get these views. And they are happy to pay for that information!

The Role Of A Market Research Online Survey

Consumers make certain decisions when purchasing goods. Knowing these decisions before the consumer buys is critical to companies. Gathering information such as target audience; age, gender, income status and leisure pursuits, where and when people shop and what time of the year they make specific purchases in fact, people's buying habits are all important aspects of a companies research process and knowing this information is like gold. That's why you are in a great position to benefit via paid online surveys.

The Pitfalls Of A Market Research Online Survey

Quite frankly, if you want to be scammed or "taken for a ride" then there are plenty of ways to do it. Paid surveys are no different and there are those out there not really interested in what's best for you.

If you are just starting out then the first thing you need to do is find and read reviews on the industry. There are no shortage of them and deciphering them can be an art form in itself. Many reviews will have an ulterior motive such as getting you to join through an affiliate link so the review will be biased. The best reviews are from those who are seasoned survey takers and known the pitfalls to avoid.

The best companies are those which have been established for some time. Greenfield Online has long been conducting market research online surveys and a good starting point. The ideal scenario when you are finally "up and running" is to join more than one company because the more opportunities you get the more money you make. Start slowly and absorb as much as you can initially then "get your feet wet." It's amazing how quickly you'll be able to pick the good from the bad just with a little experience.

So What Type Of Surveys Are There?

The most popular form of paid survey today is via email. This is understandable given the popularity of the world wide web. People are more inclined to want to do an email oriented survey because it's more convenient. An online survey can vary in cash reward from as low as $3 to anything approaching three figures.

Fun surveys will involve testing out products such as audio and visual equipment or reviewing movies and the incentive here will usually involve a reward point scheme which can be redeemed for goods and services.

Spiffing Up Your Graphic Designer Cover Letter

Do you really want to nail that graphic designer job? Well, if that's so, you need to know a few things about cover letters.

Firstly, cover letters are the core of your application. You need to pay special attention to it, as much attention as you did your portfolio or your designs. It reflects your personality just as effectively as your graphic designs.

We all know that graphic designers are visual in nature. You might be thinking, "I'm not a writer, I'm an artist!". And that's where you'll be wrong. For graphic artists not only communicate through their designs right? You also need excellent communication skills for you will be dealing with co-workers, immediate superiors and sometimes, clients.

Second, your graphic designer cover letter will tell your prospective employers all they need to know about you, even without looking at your designs. The way you make your letter, poorly or efficiently, will tell them how capable you are to handle the work load.

A messy and neglected cover letter will ensure you minus points, guaranteed. Think about it, if you were in the shoes of the employer, would you hire someone who can't even present a good letter? Most companies today require their employees to be skilled and competent. And multitasking.

Enough with the preliminaries. Let's get down to writing your own graphic designer cover letter. Here are some guidelines in writing your own:

1. Open your dictionary

-a cover letter need not be the mundane, ordinary thing that the employer reads every day. Spiff it up using powerful words to tell them your abilities and skills. Use words like "I am confident..." or "I am qualified...". Let them know that you believe yourself to be the best man for the job.

2. Do your research

-Companies like it when they're well-known. No, really. If you dig up some information about the company, about what they do, what they need and express your knowledge through your letter, that will more or less up your chances. This shows your employers that you came prepared for questions.

3. Seize the reader's attention

- Start your cover letter with an attention-grabbing statement. This will ensure interest in your letter and make you stand out among the others. The trick here is to make your application stick in the employer's mind. In a good way, of course. It would also be a good idea to package your letter in complement to your portfolio. Colors or fonts that belnd well will indicate that you've given the whole presentation a lot of thought and attention.

4. Sell yourself

- Pointing out your good points is the hardest thing in writing a cover letter. You might feel shy or embarrassed, thinking that you're selling yourself shamelessly. But do take note that companies need to know what you can and cannot do. Experience is an important part of the hiring process, so don't hold back in citing your qualifications. Assessing how well you fit the job description will depend upon this part of your letter.

5. Don't forget your contact details.

- Situate them in a place that will give maximum impact. As a designer, you know the importance of location. This will impress upon them your willingness to be contacted for future interviews. Don't forget to include a short statement about your availability too.
