Learn Passive Income Secrets That Can Change Your Future

Description:

Ask any hundred people whether they're interested in increasing their wealth, and all 100 of them will say yes.

Content:

Ask any hundred people whether they're interested in increasing their wealth, and all 100 of them will say yes. But ask them if they're ‘serious' about it, about half will shrug. Heck, most people aren't even ‘serious' about their health, let alone their wealth, but it's those people who are truly committed to action that make a real difference in their own lives. The major difference between the wealthy and the poor is that wealthy people take action (since they are committed to their wealth), whereas the poor are people who tend to think about change, but rarely take the actions necessary to make it.

If you are serious about increasing your wealth, then you are going to want to read this article, because it's the starting point - this is where it all gets very serious, and where change will follow.

So you are committed, right? Since you still reading, you must be. Okay, let's get to the meat of the issue.

Many people have heard of ‘passive income' but very few fully understand what it means. Passive income is defined as income that you do not have to work for. In other words, if you are on a sunny beach vacationing with your family, you can still be earning money. The key to generating ongoing and growing wealth is to work for passive income, instead of working income.

For example, if you are a Doctor, Lawyer, Waiter or Astronaut, once you stop working, you make no money. Your working income is gone. You may have plenty of money, but you don't make more unless you put on your work clothes, get in the car, and go to work. The rich tend to focus on earning passive income instead, so that their wealth grows each day, whether they go to work or go to the Riviera to work on their tan. And that is why the rich keep getting richer while everyone else gets poorer. And poorer. And poorer.

Fair warning! Do no think that building passive income is easy - it's not. It takes some work to establish your base, and it takes planning and commitment to build that base, and unless you build your base, that passive income will never come.

Let's think of it another way - you could spend 40 hours this week working for an insurance company as an office clerk, and you'll only make $10 or $12 an hour at the end of it. But spend 40 hours working on building your passive income and you can get that $10 or $12 an hour (or much, much more) rolling in all day, every day - even on weekends!

Imagine earning $400 before you even get up in the morning. Imagine earning $50 as you eat breakfast. Imagine going on holidays for a week and coming home to find a check for $2000 in the mail. That's passive income.

So how can you make this happen? Well, step one is to not quit your day job, as it will take some work before you are able to live off of your passive income and quit the 9-to5. Building passive income is long term thinking - not short term, so in the meantime you need to keep your bills paid. But remember, the wealthy are those that take action. The poor are those that come home from work and ‘switch off'.

Real Estate is one of the best ways to achieve passive income. For example, if you buy a nice property or commercial building and lease it out, and your mortgage payments are less than the rent you bring in, then you have just generated a passive income. The big problem is, of course, that most people do not have the massive amounts of capital required to buy real estate. So you may have to lower your sights a little to ways to make smaller amounts of passive income, with a much smaller investment, so you can work your way up to property investment later.

MLM, or Multi-level Marketing, has long been a source of passive income for people that do not have the big money to invest upfront, and while some people shy away from MLM systems, you must understand before going in that the way they work is not like it is in the infomercials. You don't just join an MLM system and instantly start making hundreds of thousands of dollars - you have to work at it. If you know anyone that has made it big in anytime of MLM business then chances are they put in long hard hours selling. This is a major downside since most people do not like selling. The best way to generate passive income is to find a real business that requires no selling.

But there are successful businesses out there that will generate a consistent and strong passive income without the hassle of selling, and without hundred of thousands of dollars needed to get in on the ground floor. If you are committed to creating passive income for you and your family, and want to start small and build a strong base, then take the next step and .

Remember - the wealthy take action. If you are serious about increasing your wealth you will too.

Laura Betterly: Tips On Balancing Career and Family

Description:

Prioritization, organization, and delegation are key to achieving the balance that allows a woman to enjoy a rich family life while also gaining fulfillment from her career.

Content:

"Prioritization, organization, and delegation are key to achieving the balance that allows a woman to enjoy a rich family life while also gaining fulfillment from her career," says Laura Betterly, CEO of In Touch Media Group, Inc. (www.intouchmediagroup.com), a full-service marketing company that specializes in using the Internet as a public relations and advertising tool. "For women, balancing a career and family doesn't have to be a high wire act - it just requires a bit of juggling."

Betterly knows whereof she speaks. With a husband and two teenage boys, Betterly is among the 72 percent of mothers with children one year or older who are in the workforce. While acknowledging that her high-powered career allows her to take advantage of services that aren't accessible to lower income mothers, Betterly maintains that every woman can develop the skills necessary to balance work and family.

"Prioritizing is the process of realizing that you can't do it all, deciding what's important, and not sweating the small stuff," Betterly says. Although she likes to provide her family with home-cooked meals, Betterly would rather spend time with her sons than in front of the stove every night. "I go to a place called Get Cooking Now, where I can make twelve dishes in their kitchen all at once," she says. "I bring them home, freeze them, and am able to give my family good, nutritious meals without a lot of preparation time or mess."

Betterly also carves out more family time by being organized and streamlining other household tasks. "I do all of our personal banking and bill paying online, and use Quicken to track all of our expenditures and due dates," she says. And, if you're on Betterly's gift list, you can count on the fact that what's inside the box came from an online source. "I utilize the Internet for gift shopping, especially at holiday time," she says. "I can find everything I'm looking for online, and I'd rather spend time with my husband and sons than traipse through shopping malls."

Finally, Betterly is a firm believer in delegation. "Each member of the family has a list of jobs to do around the house, like taking out the garbage, washing the clothes, and doing the dishes," she says. "By delegating chores, the boys have learned that their contributions are important to our family, and that we have more time for fun."

And what does Betterly, her husband Steve Blom, and sons Craig and Chris do with their extra time? "We go to movies, concerts, visit friends, and barbecue," she says. "Plus, I'm getting pretty good at play the Digital Dance Revolution video game with the boys."

Betterly concludes, "As women, we don't have to make a choice between work and family. With a few skills and some practice, we can juggle the two beautifully."

TOP 5 Reasons WHY Affiliate Marketing Is The Quickest Way To Get Started Online

Description:

This article explains the quickest way for 'Anyone' to get started online as an affiliate marketer and the TOP 5 reasons WHY.

Content:

Looking to start a home based business online for some extra $Cash$ and are looking for ideas on How-To get started as quickly as possible with as little or NO start up costs?

Well... let me share with you my idea on how 'Anyone' can get started online within the next 24 hours without a website or product of their own.

Are you ready?

The quickest way 'Anyone' can get started online is by becoming an - Affiliate Marketer.

What is a Affiliate Marketer you ask? The answers simple. You simply market others peoples products for a cut(usually between 30-70% commission on every sale made by you).

That's as easy as a definition gets, so I hope you get the picture.

Now that you understand what the quickest way to get started online is its now time for me to explain to you the "TOP 5 Reasons WHY" this is the answer.

Reason #1. NO Domain Costs.

The beautiful thing about being an affiliate is they supply you with a unique Domain with your affiliate ID for you to promote. Though some affiliate domains are quite ugly, the fact remains that you don't have to worry about paying to register any domains to get started with your promotions.

There are advanced affiliate marketing techniques using domains but I won't get into that here.

Reason #2. NO Hosting Costs.

By being an affiliate you don't have to worry about web hosting because once you sign up as an affiliate you get your own unique URL which simply redirects your potential customer to the main affiliate website.

Again there are advanced affiliate marketing techniques that require hosting but that's a whole other article in itself.

Reason #3. NO Product to worry about creating.

Once again the advantage to being an affiliate is that you don't have to worry about creating your own product. That's why you became an affiliate in the first place.

Reason #4. NO Website or Salesletter to create.

Creating a profitable Website and Salesletter can be quite the costly task especially when it comes to your salesletter.

By being a affiliate you can choose a good converting affiliate product and not have to worry about all the Trial and Error and testing involved when setting up a direct response website.

Reason #5. NO Refunds to deal with.

This again is another benefit to being an affiliate and that is you don't have to worry about dealing with any refunds from customers who are unhappy with their purchase.

The less headaches you have to worry about the better.

Well, that's it. Those are my "TOP 5 Reasons WHY".

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying don't start your own website, I'm simply sharing with you the quickest way to get started online.

You definitely will want to set up your own website once you feel comfortable with what you want to do online as your own business.

Affiliate marketing is just a EASY way to get in the game and see how things are done online.

If you really want to see how the affiliate marketing Pro's do it online then I have a special Free report I'd like you to have that will show you a simple '7 Step Formula' for getting started.

http://www.internetwondersezine.com/7-step-formula.html (Right click this link and select 'Save Target As' to download)

Well, I truly hope you see the benefits to being an affiliate marketer and see my point as to WHY getting started online as an affiliate marketer is the most cost effective and cautious way to start your online home based business.

Consider Medical Billing for a Home-based Career

Description:

First of all, what are the advantages of medical billing careers?

Content:

How many of you have heard of medical billing as a very profitable work at home business opportunity? If you haven't, then it's time to know that it has evolved into a serious income generator for many people.

First of all, what are the advantages of medical billing careers? To put it simply, they are countless. First of all, they give you the advantage of working at home, at your own hours. Imagine yourself waking every morning at about 9A.M. Or it can be 10 or 11, whatever you prefer.

You get up, drink a soda and go for a short run. Then you come back home, take a shower, and start working. Again, that is only if you feel like it. If you don't, you can read the local newspaper and then get on your job. It is really your own pace, your own schedule.

The truth is that a lot of people wish to be able to tell their bosses what to do with their workplace. To be permanently stressed whether your boss likes you or not is not fun. Many people would like nothing more than to be their own bosses, without having to follow anther person's orders.

Most of all, you need to have your own reasons for starting medical billing. Either you want to be near your family, you want to have your own hours or you just feel like it, you need to be sure what you are looking for. Medical billing is not that hard, but it's not easy either. And make no mistake, it can be a money bringer as well as a career.

You need some skills in order to be able to do medical billing. First of all, you need to be up to date with the medical code. Then, you also need to be informed about the billing code and to have at least some medical experience. Now you didn't think it was that easy, did you?

Also, you have to set it up as a business, a small business that is. You want to be able to pay taxes and have insurance, even to make a name. As you gain more and more experience, you get more and more credit and contracts as a consequence.

But who is looking for this kind of service? Over the past decades, incredible growth in information technology has led to a huge boost in the growth of new jobs, creating new business opportunities, and that is tru especially in administrative or office jobs that no longer have to be done from a cubicle or office.

Medical billing falls into this category. There are software programs especially designed for medical billing and which you can find all over the Internet, and some of them are even available for free download at various online sites.

With all the great advancements made today including high-speed internet service, voip phone service and various outsourcing sites, there's nolonger any important obstacle that is stopping you from taking the plunge into the work at home medical billing field.

How to Make Money Telling Companies What You Want to Buy

Description:

There are a variety of market research firms that specialize in conducting surveys and focus groups with everyday people. The information they gather is used by companies to determine what products and services their market wants and to evaluate how well their current products or services meet consumer expectations.

Content:

How many times have you wished you had a simple, easy and consistent way to make extra money when you needed it. Too many money making opportunities require an investment, huge time commitments or just simply don't work. Paid surveys are different.

There are a variety of market research firms that specialize in conducting surveys and focus groups with everyday people. The information they gather is used by companies to determine what products and services their market wants and to evaluate how well their current products or services meet consumer expectations.

This type of information is very valuable to these companies. It can mean the difference between a wildly successful product launch with a highly profitable product life cycle and a product doomed to fail before it even got off the drawing board. After all, customers don't buy what they don't want. And companies don't know what their market wants without asking them first.

Since most companies are in a specific business it only makes sense to contract out their market research needs to a firm that specializes in collecting consumer opinions. These market research firms have well defined incentive programs designed to motivate consumers like you to give a little of your time and share your valued opinion.

These incentive programs are where the opportunity comes in for you. Most offer simple cash payments for completing simple online surveys. Others offer prize drawings that can put you in the running for some really nice prizes. Still others offer coupons or discount vouchers for various products and services.

The key for you is to find the program or programs that offer the kind of incentive you are looking for. Usually this means cash. Once you have decided what type of incentive program you want to participate in you need to determine what kind of products you will offer your opinion on.

Not all consumers are ideal market research sources for all products. For example, you wouldn't want to survey citizens of Alaska about their preferences in air conditioners. It just doesn't make sense. So when you are deciding what to offer your opinion about take a look at where you live, what kinds of products you currently use, what kinds of markets you participate in and what industries you have some knowledge of.

Finally, you should choose a market segment or industry that you are interested in. Simply put, you won't stick with it if it bores you. Choose topics that will hold your interest and you will be in a great position to make money consistently with paid surveys.

Paid surveys are a great way to make extra money. However, they do require some time and effort on your part. Most market research companies will want you to join their service (nearly all are free) to begin participating. This allows them to collect basic demographic information about you so they can target the surveys they send you for relevance.

Once you have become a member you will be sent surveys on a variety of topics on a periodic basis. Each will take a few minutes of your time to complete. And most surveys market research firms will only accept completed surveys so it's important to finish the surveys you start.

If you are willing to spend 30 minutes a day and honestly give your opinion then you can make extra money with paid surveys. The whole process is a real win-win for all involved. You get paid, the companies get good information about their consumers preferences and the market gets products and services that more accurately meet consumer demand.

Influence - A Necessary Ingredient For MLM Business Success

Description:

When you apply the following principles to your life you will see yourself become a better and more highly skilled person, and that will cause you to see your influence in your network marketing business grow exponentially.

Content:

Do you want to expand your influence and become a leader in your MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) business? Of course you do! There are many benefits to doing so - you can have better relationships, you can make more money, and you can make a difference in the lives of others.

When you apply the following principles to your life you will see yourself become a better and more highly skilled person, and that will cause you to see your influence in your network marketing business grow exponentially. So let's take a look at these three basic principles of influence:

1) Character does indeed count. I always find it interesting when there is a discussion on whether or not character matters in leadership. Of course it does! You simply cannot become a person of long-term influence if you lack good character. Of course, the obvious questions are "What is character?", "What does it consist of?", "What are people looking for in character?".

Character is an issue of trust. People want to be able to trust you. They need to know that what you say is true. They need to know that when you say you will do something, you will. What makes people trust others? Honesty. Do you tell the truth? Always? If you do, you will greatly enhance your ability to influence. People will listen when you speak. They will know that what they hear is what they get.

Honesty is being the same personally and professionally. You don't act one way in one situation and another way in a different situation. When people see you tell a "little white lie" in one situation, it is only natural that they will wonder if you are eventually going to tell them a "little white lie" as well.

If you want to influence others, first and foremost make sure that you are a person of character and integrity. This is a central issue of influence.

2) To influence, you must also be great at what you do. The last in the class is not usually the influencer, right? Right! Who is usually the influencer? The first in the class. People look up to those who produce the best results. People want to see that those they listen to have already achieved a certain level of success. So if you want to influence, develop a reputation for excellence. By continually sharpening your skills and knowledge, by improving your relationships and your finances, you will more easily position yourself to be an influencer in the lives of others.

3) Influence is based on helping others. One of the most influential quotes in the arena of personal and professional development in the past fifty years has been Zig Ziglar's quote about how you can achieve anything you want in life if you will help many others achieve what they want out of life. It has been so influential because of its innate truth.

True influence is about serving and helping others. Do you want to be the "go to" man or woman in your network marketing business? Then be the best helper or servant in the group. Do you want to be connected like no one else? Then be the person whose name comes to mind when people ask themselves, "Who could help me with this?" If your name pops into their mind, that is influence! Why, because they will call you and you will get the opportunity to influence. And if you can deliver the goods, your reputation will grow even more!

What Is A Career In Biotechnology Like?

Description:

Content:

Biotechnology is the integration of engineering and technology to the life sciences.

Biotechnologists frequently use microorganisms or biological substances to perform specific processes or for manufacturing. Examples include the production of drugs, hormones, foods and converting waste products.

There are many sub-branches involved in the biotech industry. A few of the more common branches include; molecular biology, genetic engineering, and cell biology.

A new and exciting sub-branch requiring biotechnologists is the field of nanotechnology. Nanotechnology gives us the capability to engineer the tiniest of objects, things at the molecular level. Nano means a billionth of a specific unit in Greek. Nanotechnology includes the study and manipulation of materials between 1 and 100 nanometers.

To give you an idea, DNA is approximately 2.5 nanometers. Red blood cells are 2.5 micrometers (1,000 times larger). And a sheet of paper is about 100,000 nanometers thick!

As you can imagine, it is very difficult to scale and mass produce objects within the realm of nanotechnology. Their minute size makes them nearly impossible to manipulate. But scientists and engineers have teamed up to make the seemingly impossible a reality.

Which means those with the proper training will be highly sought after in the future. The National Science Foundation estimates that the U.S. alone will need up to 1 million nanotechnology researchers. It is estimated that the need for nanotechnology workers will reach 2 million by 2015.

Therefore, if you're considering getting into the field of biotech, you may want to gear your background in nanotechnology if your school offers it or seek employment in this exciting new career field after graduating.

No matter what sub-branch you wind up specializing in, biotechnologists often collaborate with others in the laboratory and bounce ideas off one another. This can create a pleasant work environment; one that involves sharing with others and working together to achieve a great goal.

Marketing Success Secrets Of A Homeless Man: Tenacity In The Face Of Adversity

Description:

Everyone measures success differently. However, we all get there the same way, by displaying unwavering tenacity in our business and marketing efforts.

Content:

Earl Nightingale, in the world-famous motivational tape, "The Strangest Secret," defines success as the "progressive realization of a worthy ideal." Using that definition, success then, especially for any business owner or entrepreneur, may depend upon whatever ideal a person holds dear.

Beyond that, it may be measured by the reaching of goals set on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually basis. You must get a clear picture of success in your head, otherwise how will you know when you get there?

Nearly every day, I see a man who appears to be homeless on the corner of the intersection of a major freeway in Humble, Texas who we can classify as "successful," mainly because his marketing success causes him to thrive at getting (progressive realization) a good number of "donations" (his worthy goal)on a daily basis. Normally, I would never equate being homeless with being successful, although I know many good people who due to circumstances beyond their control, found themselves in that situation.

However, we can not deny that this particular homeless man's marketing methods and tactics work for him. In an earlier article, we established that by looking the part, this "entrepreneur," followed the first tenet of success for any business owner.

Very few people, if any, would give to a supposedly homeless man, decked out in the latest fashions complete with cell phone and accessories. But, without further investigation, he personified the old saying, "If it looks like a duck, quack likes a duck and walks like a duck; it must be a duck."

The second principle of his success shows that in spite of adversity, he projected great tenacity; no matter the time of day -- early morning, midday or late evening, you will find him plying his trade -- begging by the roadside. In fact, on many days, even in inclement weather, you could find him, much to the jeers of some passing motorists and competitors who wanted in on his turf.

In other words and with due respect to the inscription found on some U.S. Post Offices: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays this homeless man from the swift completion of his appointed location." In their day to day goals, many business owners wish that they would do so well.

Merriam Webster states that tenacity means being "persistent in maintaining or adhering to something valued or habitual." Tenacity for business owners simply measures the persistency in your day to day work habits, goals and objectives.

Tenacity equals going for it -- in spite of your surroundings and situation. The fact that the homeless man focuses entirely on money causes me a problem because it compares with some people I know who go into business with making money as the sole purpose.

A capitalistic society encourages making money, but most professionals go into business to make a difference, to contribute to society, to help their clients, or to make the world a better place. To do so calls for real tenacity.

Tenacity means we focus on action with the end in mind. We don't just go through the motions. There's something higher that keeps us going, even when we don't want to go.

One of my friends, a successful businessman in Houston, tells the story of him getting in trouble with the tax man. My friend basically squandered $90,000 and the tax official assigned to his case, threatened to close his business down.

He didn't possess the money to pay the bill, but knew certain high-paying projects, when completed would be enough to pay off the bill in full by the deadline. My friend came in early, stayed late, and often slept on the couch in the reception area of his office. In just a couple of weeks, he wrote a check for the full amount of the taxes owed.

When asked to describe how my friend could accomplish do so much in such a short time, his wife gave a one-word sentence. Tenacity.

Online Turnkey Business Opportunity, Does it Exist?

Description:

Does an online turnkey business opportunity really exist? There are all types of these offers that popup everywhere online. When you join this type of online business you are banking that the system will do a majority of the work for you.

Does an online turnkey business opportunity really exist? There are all types of these offers that popup everywhere online. When you join this type of online business you are banking that the system will do a majority of the work for you. Many of these online turnkey businesses promise they will build a down line for you or even in some cases sell your products for you. People normally believe when something is too good to be true it normally is. Yes that is true to a certain extent. Two things that I find to be true are you cannot get something for nothing and easy come easy go. So does an online turnkey business opportunity exist, well yes and no.

First off I have not found any online business opportunity that will build your organization for you, just because you signed up. If a company were to promise me this, I would get my checkbook and run the other way. I have seen many desperate salespeople promise the world just to get a sale or a signup. Then when they under deliver on their promise, they leave behind bitter and angry partners. Then these partners let everyone in the world know how they were conned into a business opportunity. And technically they were duped but in life you normally don't get something for nothing. If you are lucky enough to get something for nothing, then easy come easy go normally comes into effect. I was in Las Vegas with a couple of old military buddies (and of course the wife) and one of my friends began to play craps. He started playing with 100 hundred dollars of his own money, 4 hours later he walked away with a little over 8 grand. By the time we left Las Vegas he had lost the 8 grand plus 2 grand of his own money. As they say easy come easy go.

Here is why I believe an online turnkey business opportunity does work. First where else can you start a business for so cheap. Even if your online business costs 2,000 dollars to start you are still getting off cheap. There are many online affiliate programs that are even free. Next I believe that if you work consistently towards building your online business, there will come a day when you will not have to work it and it will just build itself.

There are many online turnkey businesses out there, none of them will do the work for you. You must apply yourself and build your online business. Remember you most likely will not get something for nothing and if you do then easy come easy go comes into play. Think about that the next time you are about to join an online turnkey business opportunity.

What’s Wrong With Most Resumes?

Description:

7 key resume flaws and what to do about them.

Content:

Dr. Sander I. Marcus

Having written, edited, and critiqued literally thousands of resumes in all fields for over 30 years, I have come to the inescapable conclusion that most resumes fail to capture the attention of potential employers for 7 predictable (and curable) reasons. These are:

1. Lack of focus. Most resumes I see look like a random laundry list of everything the person has done in his or her career. There are also endless lists of skills, personal characteristics, numerical results, verbs, unnecessary detail, and often details that are not written clearly or would not be understood by someone outside of the industry or job that is being discussed. I believe that what everyone tries to do on a resume is to make everything stand as equally important. Can’t be done! As a result, the typical resume is unorganized in the sense that it lacks a dominant focus, a clear sense of purpose and direction. You have got to ask yourself what your major goal is in writing your resume, and EVERYTHING you do needs to be guided by that goal.

2. Not “tailored” for the type of position being sought. Even if your resume makes it clear what type of job (or specific job title) you are applying for, most resumes I see do not emphasize in the body of the resume the factors that relate to that job title. For example, I just worked with an experienced nurse who wants an administrative or supervisory position. Her initial resume emphasized all of her technical knowledge and experience (which is considerable), because she was convinced that the more she is viewed as a competent nurse, the better her chances for a managerial position. This is true only up to a point. She also needed to emphasize those responsibilities and accomplishments in her career that would be of value in an administrative role, so that a potential employer could quickly see that she has had “enough” managerial activities (in addition to her medical skills) in her background to justify hiring her. And it was important that these managerial activities not get lost in a sea of technical nursing details.

3. Not written for a “skimmer.” Everyone knows that potential employers do not “read” resumes in detail at first. They “skim” it, usually taking perhaps only 15 to 30 seconds to see if it is worth reading in detail. By trying to make everything “stand out” (such as by using differing fonts, underlining, boldfacing, italics, writing items in columns or boxes, and other devices), you have no control over your reader’s eye. When your reader is skimming, his or her eye will naturally start at about the top center, but then quickly scan down the left side of the page. The left side of the page is where the battle for your reader’s attention is fought. And, therefore, THAT is where you had better put the most important words, items, and information.

4. Failure to ask the two fundamental questions. The two most important questions in deciding what to emphasize in your resume are: 1) What does the reader want to see FIRST? 2) What do I want the reader to see FIRST? What most readers want to see FIRST (before they decide to either throw out your resume or read it more carefully) can vary. Most, however, are looking for key factors, usually academic degrees, certification and licensing, job titles, or key skills related to the job. Some may look first for gaps in employment, school activities, recent training, or other factors. You also want your reader to see certain items FIRST. Perhaps you want your reader to see how you helped your present employer improve the quality of their product or service, or some other accomplishment. You need to emphasize that. In any case, you want to make sure that your reader can find all of these “firsts” without having to read in detail.

5. No clear benefit statement to the potential employer. Why does any organization hire you, me, or anyone else? It is basically for two reasons: To solve the organization’s problems and to achieve the organizations goals. And usually those problems and goals are directly related to the organization’s bottom-line needs – increasing profits by increasing income, reducing costs, improving customer satisfaction, increasing company visibility, improving quality and teamwork, enhancing productivity and efficiency of personnel, and so forth. There should be a brief and prominent statement that your resume reader sees first that mentions those benefits and how (in your particular area of expertise) you can help the company realize those benefits.

6. Key accomplishments are buried in the middle of the resume. I frequently read items like this: “Developed a specialized quality assurance program which resulted in a 20% reduction in production costs in the third quarter.” What’s key here? I believe it’s the 20% cost reduction. Therefore, that is the way to write the item: “20% cost reduction in production in the third quarter by developing a specialized quality assurance program.” Your skimmer will see the “20% cost reduction,” even if they don’t read the whole item.

7. Unique strengths not recognized and not made clear. After 30 years of providing career and job search counseling to perhaps 15,000 individuals, you naturally begin to see predictable patterns. And yet, it is still of crucial importance to recognize that no two people are alike. Each one of us has our unique strengths, or one-of-a-kind combination of experiences, or individual career path, or specialized knowledge and expertise. Often we do not emphasize what is unique about our background in a resume, let alone even recognize it. But it is your uniqueness that makes you stand out from others. If you have trouble seeing it, get some guidance and figure out what it is, and place it prominently in your resume. It very often determines whether your resume will be thrown out or you will be asked in for an interview.

There are many different solutions to the above resume flaws, but I believe that it is critical to find solutions to them if you want to make sure your resume is in the less than 5% that are not immediately discarded.

What Is A Virtual Assistant?

Description:

A home-based entrepreneur who uses the Internet, phone, fax, email, and other technology to communicate with his/her clients. Virtual Assistants provide administrative.

Content:

What is a Virtual Assistant? This is a question you've probably asked yourself if you have heard of the title "Virtual Assistant." A Virtual Assistant (VA) is an independent contractor and a home-based entrepreneur who uses the Internet, phone, fax, email, and other technology to communicate with his/her clients.

Virtual Assistants provide administrative support and/or specialized business services. Many Virtual Assistants were most often Administrative or Executive Assistants in traditional work environments before launching their Virtual Assistance Practices. Most Virtual Assistants work from their home office and, with the help of technology, other virtual locations. Technology has enabled Virtual Assistants to have a global client base.

Virtual Assistants: What do they do?

Ok...so now you know the answer to the question of what a Virtual Assistant is, now let's talk about what they do.

Virtual Assistants provide much of the same services as an onsite employee, but without the added expense to employers. Some provide general services while others provide more specialized services such as a Virtual Real Estate Assistant.

Here are some services Virtual Assistants offer (this is not an exhaustive list):

- Website and Graphic Design - Website Maintenance and Updates - Online and Offline Marketing and Promotion - Accounting / Bookkeeping - Data Entry - PowerPoint Presentations - Advertising in Print Media - Desktop Publishing - Custom Ad Design for print media - Travel Arrangements - Writing, Editing & Researching Services - Secretarial Services - Word Processing - General and Legal Transcription Services - Database Management - Personal Assistant Services - Event Planning - Technical Support - Coaching / Consulting - Customer Service - Real Estate Support

These are just a few services you can offer as a Virtual Assistant. The more specialized your services are, the less saturated the market will be. Try to find a niche and target market if you have a specialized skill and/or expertise.

Basic equipment and software needed can include, but is not limited to, the following:

Basic Equipment:

- Computer and/or Laptop - Cable, Satellite, or DSL Internet Service - Modem - Fax Machine - Printer - Copier - Scanner - Telephone with unlimited long distance service - CD Burner

Software:

- Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word, Outlook, Publisher) - Macromedia Dreamweaver or Microsoft FrontPage (for web design, editing, and maintenance) - Instant Messenger (AOL, Yahoo, MSN etc.) - Antivirus Software - Adobe Acrobat

While all the equipment and software above is not mandatory, they are very useful and worthwhile to learn how to use.

The Virtual Assistance industry is growing tremendously. It has enabled many to start their own business while being at home with their family. There are many great resources out there if you're an aspiring Virtual Assistant

Whether you are applying for a job or for funding, whether you are presenting business papers or an artist's portfolio, you cannot expect the recipient to know your purpose for applying or showing such things immediately. In all these cases and more, you need a suitable, polite, and persuasive cover letter.

What is a cover letter? It is your chance to make a first impression - it may also be your only chance to make any impression at all. In fact, a cover letter can make or break an application, so it has to be written briefly, correctly, and neatly. Depending on your needs, it has to contain all the essential information about you and your goals in as few sentences as possible.

What does a cover letter look like?

All letters begin with an address. Do your research immediately by knowing the complete name of the person interested in your materials. Is this person a man or a woman? How should this person be addressed? Make sure that you do not begin your letter with a simple "Dear Madam" or "Dear Sir"; and never begin your letter with "To Whom it May Concern!" This actually does the opposite: it shows no concern on your part, and the company will most likely show no concern for you as a result. Include the contact person's name and position in your heading, then make the address.

All letters contain a body - and this body has to be brief and full of information, all on one page. To write this section well, you have to know your goals. Are you applying for a job? Do you know the duties you have to undertake? Are you presenting an artist's portfolio? What is that portfolio for? Let the goals guide you, and your letter body will surely be written well.

When writing the body of your letter, introduce yourself in one sentence. State your career goals in the next sentence if you are applying for a job, or the goals of your letter if you are looking for funding. State your interest in the job or company in the next sentence. If you are looking to make a deal with a company to ensure it commercial exposure, then state so in one sentence.

Maintain an air of politeness and strength in the letter. This straightforward tone will grab attention easily.

All cover letters need to show that you are reachable. Provide all your contact information. If you will not be reachable at certain numbers during certain times of the day, then state so. The company has to know that you care about it, so it cannot be troubled by trivialities like looking for you all over town.

All letters end with a closing address. Be brief, polite, but forward looking in your conclusion. Endings such as "I look forward to your quick, positive response" can end a letter on a good note. Be sure to thank the contact person for their time - after all, the contact person can have very little of it, and the least you can do is to thank them for spending it on you!

Sign your name and give that cover letter a personal touch. Be sure that it is neat and presentable as well. First impressions count!

Are you applying for a job by presenting your credentials, or by showing off your portfolio? Are you looking for funding for your research project, or are you soliciting products to give away at your next company outing? Get to writing that cover letter and make your supplementary materials all the more attractive. You will have that job, funding, and whatever you need in no time at all.

Sand casting

Sand casting is utilized to make large components of iron, Bronze, Brass and Aluminium. Melted metal is poured into a mould cavity made out of sand.

Patterns:
The cavity in the sand is made by utilizing a pattern (a rough duplicate of original) which are generally made of wood and rarely of metal. The cavity is contained in an aggregate housed in a box called the flask. Core is a sand shape put into the mould to produce the inner features of the component like holes or internal passages. Core is put in cavity to form holes of the desired shapes. Core print is the portion added to pattern core or mould which is utilized to find and support the core within the mould. A riser is an extra cavity made in mould to hold excess molten material. The reason of this is to feed the molten metal to the mould cavity and as metal solidifies and shrinks and therefore, prevents holes in the main casting.

In a two part mould, the upper half is called cope and the lower half is called drag. The parting line separates cope and drag. The drag is filled with sand in part and the core print, the cores and the gating process are put close to the parting line. The cope is then joined to drag and sand is poured covering the pattern, core and the gating system. The sand is made compact by vibration and mechanical method. After that the cope is separated from drag and the pattern is removed carefully. The purpose is to remove the pattern without breaking the mould cavity. This is facilitated by designing a draft, a slight angular offset from the vertical to vertical surface of the pattern. This is generally of 1° or 1.5 mm (0.060 in) whichever is more. The rougher the surface of design, the more the draft to be given.

Sprues and runners:
The melted material is poured in the pouring cup, it is part of gating process that provides the melted metal to the mould cavity. The vertical part of gating process connected with pouring cup is called sprue and the horizontal part is called the runners and lastly to the multiple points where it connects to the mould cavity is called gates. Alongside there are extensions to the gating process called vents that give the way for built-up gases and the displaced air to vent to the atmosphere.

The cavity is generally made oversize to allow for metal contraction as it cools down to normal temperature. These are linear factors and apply in each direction. These shrinkages for allowance are approximate because the exact allowance is decided by shape and size of casting. Besides different components of casting need separate shrinking allowances.

Sand casting is a way of making rough metal castings utilizing a mould generally made of sand made around a duplicate of the part to be cast that is removed once the sand becomes compact. Castings made this way may be refined by hammer preening, shot preening, polishing forging, plating, rough grinding machining sand castings not refined further are easily recognizable by sand like texture given by the mould. Therefore, the accuracy of part has to be improved by polishing or grinding. And the mould is broken after every casting to take out the part, a fresh mould is to be made for every casting.

Paths for metal pourin during pouring into mould casting are called the runner system and include sprue, various feeders which maintain a good metal ‘feed’ and ‘runners’ and ingates which attach the runner system to cavity. Gas and steam made during casting exit via the permeable sand and riser are added either in the pattern itself or a separate pieces.

Smart Questions Eliminate Objections

Description:

Customers do not know how to ask good questions. That is your job. If you want to truly match your customer with the best product, service or experience, you cannot skittishly react to a customer's objection. The way you react and eliminate their objections could determine the sale.

Tom Richard

At first, hearing about my mother’s cell phone shopping experience was pretty entertaining. It was amusing just to hear her explain how she didn’t understand why phones have become so complicated in recent years.

In fact, she told me she had proudly announced to the salesperson that she didn’t want to spend extra money on a phone with a built-in camera. The salesperson, hearing a price objection, gently complied. He eliminated all models that included a built-in digital camera, and steered my mother toward the inexpensive models.

In just a few weeks, my mother soon realized that her new phone wasn’t able to do all the neat things her children’s phones could. It seemed that her phone was nothing but a cut-down, inexpensive version with absolutely no features.

What neither the salesperson, nor my mother, had realized was that eliminating all of the phones with cameras had also automatically eliminated all of the phones that had features my mother later realized she wanted. After realizing this, my mother blamed the salesperson for not telling her that she would be giving up these additional features.

I know what you’re thinking. Blaming the salesperson? How can you blame the salesperson when it was the customer who made the objection regarding price?

Well, it’s simple. A salesperson is nothing more than a professional communicator. As a professional communicator, they must be able to decipher exactly what the customer wants. Often, this takes some investigating.

Customers do not know how to ask smart questions. That is your job. While giving the customer exactly what they are asking for may seem like the right thing to do, if you want to truly match your customer with the best product, service, or experience for them, you’re obligated to take a few additional steps.

Rather than skittishly reacting to a customer’s objection or statement, pause for a moment to consider the meaning behind their words. Focus on understanding the customer and their words and you’ll turn their objection into a way to close the sale quickly and comfortably.

The quickest way to gain a true understanding of your customer is through great questions. When my mother proudly announced she did not want to spend extra money on a phone with a camera, the salesperson should have followed up with a question that would have cleared the air and put the sales conversation on the right path, towards perfect communication.

The salesperson could have asked, “If you could build your own cell phone, what would it do and why?” This would have opened up the conversation and revealed all the benefits that were important to my mother. She would have been able to place her perfect cell phone order with the salesperson. Not only would she have been much happier with her purchase, the salesperson would have gained great referrals and probably would have sold a pricier phone, too.

Customer objections should be eagerly anticipated and celebrated when they arrive. These objections are dead giveaways of a customer’s intention to buy. They give you the opportunity to discover the customer’s true concerns and needs, so you can personalize your sales approach for that customer.

The only thing that stands between yourself and a completed sale is true understanding. That means that your objective should be to understand, rather than to sell. Change your objective away from trying to make a sale to understanding the customer, their situation, and their buying motives.

The next time you are in a sales conversation, recognize the opportunities you have to understand your customer and find the best solution for their needs. Instead of limiting your approach by taking objections literally, use them to ask engaging questions that unlock communication and understanding. Focus on the customer personally and not the monetary sale. By taking your mind off the customer’s wallet, you’ll be thickening yours.
