You know the story of the goose that laid the golden egg, but the greedy owners began to think they weren't getting rich fast enough, and, imagining the bird must be made of gold inside, they decided to kill it in order to secure the whole store of precious metal at once.

But when they cut it open they found it was just like any other goose. Thus, they neither got rich all at once, as they had hoped, nor enjoyed any longer the daily addition to their wealth.

When some think of multi-level marketing (MLM) or network marketing, they figure it's a get-rich-quick "loaded goose" and find soon that their lofty dreams of sudden wealth are turned into a chopped up disappointment.

Then adding to their frustration, the disapproving relatives and friends swoop in to say "I told you so. Network marketing is just a fly-by-night scheme to make innocent people think they can become wealthy when in reality only the rich in company make it to the top." Sounds like a cut up goose with a fork and a knife doesn't it?
Well, guess what, it isn't that way at all.  Before you grab that white MLM goose by the neck, take a good look at what you're butchering. You might want to keep your feathery friend around, quietly dropping her golden eggs one at a time.

She's an enterprising lady, a free thinker with time on her hands to enjoy life while she turns out her product. Think of the residual income if every once in awhile she produces a batch of little goslings that repeat her efforts.  Think of the job security!

Consider also what her downy cousins in the business world produce. Corporate America creams off big profits while diligent birdies at the bottom work long hours to make a living. Those top hawks profit from their salesmen, office workers, service employees, staff, on down to the janitors who labor hard to earn their paychecks with no real hope of getting ahead, let alone earn like the elusive leaders in the company.

Day after day the millions of chickadees work hard with little time left to enjoy family, build their assets or discover their dreams. Add to that, stress which causes health problems and retirement that is meager and in a distant haze, you've painted the job world in its true dull colors. No peacocks here!

When you think of it, the big difference between network marketing and corporate America is that you are the CEO of your own company for a minimum investment, with hope for residual income and an opportunity to help others have that same vision which is unlike the stiff competition corporate companies promote.  

Those precious golden eggs are multiplied in MLM because the goose doesn't want to fly away. Why should she? There's no rival for her ingenious products and marketing plan. She flies around with other positive birds and is always helping others get their golden lady.  Only a few will find her.

That's because it's work to own a golden goose, a job you created that takes effort. And frankly, some people cannot visualize themselves with that kind of responsibility and discipline. It means stretching out of their comfort zone, but totally worth doing. Go for it and fly!

The number one rule in working at home and avoiding scams is to never pay for a job. Any opportunity that wants a person to pay just to work for them is not worth it. For every one of those opportunities there are plenty of real business programs that are free. The only time it may be reasonable to pay for anything related to a job is when the company gives the person something. If a person pays for sample products, for example, then that is reasonable. Many direct sales jobs require representatives to buy a start up kit which is basically fine. However, when a company wants a person to pay money without a product that is a sure warning sign of a scam. Any charges for administrative costs or processing is best left unpaid. For a business to require spending money just for being able to sign up for the opportunity is not a good sign.

The following list sorts out the other things to watch out for to help avoid scams. These things are all something to consider about every opportunity. By considering them a person can avoid wasting time on things that will never help them build a home business residual income. - Good products or services. The products and services should be real. They should be something people would buy and something that is in demand. If nobody will buy them then the chances of the business surviving are not good. - Support from others. Every business opportunity should offer support from at least the sponsor. That is the idea in most residual income opportunities. A team is built and works together to form a strong business. If there is no support then success could be hard to find. - The company has staying power. The company should be built to last. They should have a good reputation. They should be solid. If there are any signs of weakness it may be best to stay away. - Getting started is very hard. If the company makes getting started difficult then that could lead to problems. A hard to start business could make a person give up well before succeeding. Also it would be hard to recruit others to be successful in such a business.

These are some of the signs of a scam or problem business. If you are vigilant in your search for a good home business opportunity you will succeed in and generate residual income.

In this age of ever-declining customer service, it’s important that we, as small business owners, take responsibility of our customer service skills and really take care of our customers and clients. So what are some GREAT customer service tips to make sure that your customers always feel like they’re number one in your business?

Don’t let the “grumps” invade your business.

No matter how bad your day is going or your week, for that matter, don’t ever let it invade any sort of communication with a client. If you absolutely cannot deal with a customer problem at that moment, let the phone call go to voicemail or let the email sit in your inbox for a moment and take a break. Go outside, get a fresh breath, whatever it takes… When you’re speaking to your client, get a smile on your face and don’t get upset.

Turn the tables.

Go into any situation with a client with the following questions in mind: If this were me, how would I want to be treated? What would I be expecting to compensate me for my time, my unhappiness, etc.? How would I feel?

Be honest with your customers.

Set out what you can and can’t do from the outset of your relationship with your clients. Don’t propose doing things you don’t know how to do and don’t accept assignments you can’t complete or don’t know how to do. If, for some reason, you can’t meet an assigned deadline, be honest with them about why you can’t meet it and ask for an extension. Let them know as early as possible that you can’t meet it and go from there.

Provide alternatives.

If you can’t do something that a customer asks of you, provide alternatives, whether it’s farming some work out to a colleague as a subcontractor or suggesting other professionals altogether. This not only makes customers think you’re an honest businessperson, but it often results in positive word of mouth.

Under-promise, over-deliver…

Whether it’s “padding” the time you quote for a project or giving yourself a cushion on delivery time, always try to exceed their expectations of what you’re doing for them. For example, if you tell them you’re going to have a PowerPoint presentation proofread for them in three days, get it done in two and maybe find some additional clip art/photographs for them to use to “kick it up a notch.”

Record special dates in your clients’ lives and remember them.

Send hand-written notes for birthdays, anniversaries, special dates, etc. And always send hand-written thank-you notes for special gifts or bonuses received from them. While this may seem old-fashioned and a little quirky, it means a lot more to someone than a quick email or phone call.

Follow up with customers.

When you complete a project or order, don’t just leave them hanging until they get your invoice or until they need you again. Follow up with them to ensure that they got what they wanted and don’t need something changed. Be proactive with your clients’ satisfaction levels.

People are more likely to refer you on to their friends and associates if they’re content with your level of customer care than if you deliver a superior product. If your level of dedication and honesty is there, the word-of-mouth advertising is priceless.

“For distributors to maintain margins and survive these much higher energy costs require a commitment to continued process improvement and lean principles,” says Brian Devine, vice-president of ProLogistix (www.prologistix.com). “The impact of rising energy costs on the supply chain requires better methods than beating suppliers for cost reductions which do not pay in the long run, and passing costs along to customers is not a viable option. The only viable solution for the distribution supply chain is to achieve higher levels of personnel efficiency, coordination, planning and productivity.”

While even the most skilled logistics professional cannot avoid passing a portion of mounting fuel surcharges along to customers, distributors can arm themselves with staffing expertise to mitigate the increased costs. Optimizing routing selection requires experienced lean logistics professionals and represents an opportunity for significant cost savings. Inexperienced staffers might have flown an order to achieve expedient on-time delivery, when in fact the same result to the customer could have been achieved by hiring a driver to transport the package overnight for a tenth the cost of air transport.

Another cost-saving through best logistics hiring practices is in consolidating employees in the inbound and outbound logistics groups, often resulting in a single, smaller team. Typical same-day shipments improve as much as 40 percent with fewer staff through improvements in hiring efficiencies.

Your entire resume will be organized around that objective. Deciding on a clear job objective will help you determine the best way to organize your resume for the job search, select appropriate keywords and present your job and career experiences.

First on the blueprint list is to choose the most appropriate resume layout for your resume project. Among the most popular resume layout schemes are reverse chronological, functional and lastly a combination of both.

The reverse chronological layout is best to show skills, work experience and logical career progression that are directly related to the employment job target. This layout should be chosen when you wish to emphasize steady, solid work experience without major employment gaps. Place prominently at the very top of the resume the information category that best supports your job objective or career objectives. List your employment history in reverse chronological order with the most recent experience first on the list. Ensure that you stress the major accomplishments and responsibilities of each position. It is best to avoid repeating details that are common to several of the work employment positions.

The second of the resume preparation formats is the "functional" resume. You should use this resume format is you lack work experience that is directly related to your job employment career target. Learn to tell thirty-second "success stories." During sales calls a quick-hitting story can make or reinforce a point in memorable fashion. Success stories may be told in response to a question, to serve as a testimonial, or even as an aside. Did you know you had a storied past?

Stories work for several reasons: they're more memorable than numbers, names and dates; and listeners enjoy the drama: a problem followed by a solution, a mystery solved with a twist, or a creative workaround to a seemingly insurmountable obstacle. Also, your listener can find him or herself in the story. A good story will resonate with prospects.

"We're wired for stories, individually and collectively. Since the time of Odysseus we've been told stories. Since we were little kids we've been read and told stories. As we all know the potential to make an honest buck selling on eBay is becoming more and more limited. With eBay fee increases becoming more and more of a regular thing, many sellers are counting their losses and heading for the hills. An even more alarming thing has been going on via the auction site; the scammers and fraudsters are becoming much more technologically advanced. The only benefit I can see from the fee increases is all in favor of the buyer. By raising the fees the small time sellers and fraudsters will likely steer clear. However, it is disappointing to see it become more difficult for the little guy to get his piece of the action.

There was once a time when you could browse eBay listings with little to no worries – but I just wanted to warn all readers to be sure you look at every auction with at least a little bit of suspicion. When buying a high ticket item, be sure it's from a reputable seller with a good feedback score. Be sure to also pay attention to the shipping charges described in the auction. Many shady sellers will post valuable items with low buy it now prices only to turn around and make up their losses with outrageous shipping (which is against eBay policy by the way). A final thing to take note of prior to placing a bid or purchasing an item, is where the item is located. I prefer to purchase from U.S., Canadian, or U.K. based sellers. From my experiences many of the electronics and DVD's coming from places like China are inferior quality and often times are refurbished items being sold as "new." This isn't to say that all items coming from China are ones to avoid, occassionally you will find a great deal on a nice item, just try to use some common sense and follow your intuitions. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and smells like a duck, then it's probably a duck. If an auction or a seller seem shady to you then follow your instincts because you're probably on the mark with your judgement. Don't hesitate to report an auction or a seller to eBay if you feel there is a violation or scam going on – this will improve the entire eBay community.

With monthly water retention cycles, dieting, and general aging, it also should not be assumed that the size you were two years ago is the same size you are today (or that a bra can be worn that long, for that matter). Even a change of 5 pounds can change your bra size. This guide will help you to properly measure your bust, so that you can find the size for you.

While most shops will have a salesperson to assist you in proper measurements, in order to buy sexy lingerie from a catalog, it is important to know your size.

How To Know If Your Current Bra Does Not Fit

The back rides up. This may mean that the cups are too small, or the band is too tight. The front of the band is too tight to get a finger under it. This means you need a larger band.

The bra cups should be entirely filled, or you may need a smaller cup. If, on the other hand, the cups are overflowing, you may need a larger cup or a different style of bra.

If the underwire digs in, you may need a larger cup size. (Or your bra could just be very old. In either case, it's time to replace it.) This could also be an indication that the side wings of the bra are not large enough.

Proper Measurements

First, you will need three measurements: under bust, upper bust, and full bust. For under the bust, measure directly under your bust. With all measurements, hold the tape secure but not too tight. For the upper bust, measure above the bust and below the arms.

If the difference between the under and upper bust is less than two inches, the under bust is your band size (round up to nearest even number). If the difference is more than two inches, add 2-3" to the under bust measurement to get an even number and use this as your band size. For the full bust, measure around a fullest part of your breast. Make sure the tape is secure around the back.

Your cup size is determined by your full bust measurement – your upper bust measurement. If the difference is less than 1", you are a AA, 1" is an A, 2" is a B, 3" is a C, 4" is a D, 5" is a DD (or an E), etc.

Beyond Measurements

Of course, your measurements are just the beginning. There are other things to keep in mind when looking for a comfortable, yet sexy bra.

When trying on different bras, make sure that the area in between the two cups actually comes into contact with your chest. Do not make the straps support your breast alone! This will be very uncomfortable over long periods of time, the bra will wear out quickly, and the pressure on the straps can cause back problems.

If you are finding the band sizes to differ for a different brand, you may also need to change your cup size. Generally, as you decrease the band size, you will need to increase your cup size, while a larger band will call for a smaller cup.

Bra Styles

Different styles of bras have different fits. Beware the convertible bras: while they may sometimes work, it is rare that every possible style will work for your body.

Full Cup / Full Coverage – Designed for support, these bras cover the entire breast.

Half Cup / Demi Cup – These bras cover 75 percent of the breast. This is a sexy cut that increases cleavage, but make sure your breasts are not "cut-off" in the center. Your profile should still be smooth, and if it isn't, you need a larger cup size.

Underwire Bras – These bras give the most support.

Racerback Bras – These bras have a crossover pattern in the back. They can have a front or back clasp, or can simply pull over the head. This is a common style for a sports bra.

Halter-Top Bras – As the name imply, these bras have a strap that loops around the neck, rather than the usual shoulder straps. These bras can increase cleavage, and can be worn with both halter tops and tops with low center coverage.

Backless Bras – While some backless bras literally have only front coverage, generally this refers to bras with extremely low backs, so that many dresses with low backs can be worn without the bra showing.

Strapless Bras – These bras have no straps at all, only the band. Some of these can cover the stomach area as well, and some even cover the body like a leotard. These longer strapless bras tend to stay in place better.

Padded Bras / Push-Up Bras – These bras have extra padding in the cups in order to give the illusion of a larger breast and/or to increase the cleavage. The padding can be made of the same material as the bra, foam, or gel. Gel is becoming more popular because of its more natural look. In some bras, the padding is removable.

D̩collet̩ РThese bras are lower cut than a demi bra, allowing you to wear something even lower cut without revealing your bra.

Light-Support Bras – These bras have no underwire. While you may be tempted to wear one to an all-day event, if you are larger than an A cup, you may not be getting the support you need. A properly fitted bra will be comfortable whether or not it has underwire.

Sports Bra – These bras are designed to minimize bouncing during athletic activity. While some inexpensive varieties do this by squishing your breasts, it is better to find on that is sized by cup sizes (as opposed to small, medium, and large) and get fitted as you would with a regular bra. Over the long term, this will increase your comfort.

Nursing Bras – For the convenience of nursing mothers, these bras have a snap on each of the shoulder straps, so she can easily remove them to feed the baby without taking off the entire bra. Generally, nursing bras are full-coverage for the added support a new mother needs.
