Six Reasons Executive Recruiters Will Talk To You

Description:

To better tap executive search firms and other recruitment agencies, understand what really motivates them to speak to potential candidates.

Content:

It is worth covering the motivations of 3rd party recruiters, that is, executive search firms and other retained or contingent recruitment agencies.

The basic starting point is that these firms and their individual partners, associates, or support staff, are under no obligation to talk to you. They owe you nothing. Harsh, but true. The client of the search firm is the hiring organization. That is rule one.

However, rule 2 is that they need candidates that FIT their current and future assignments in order to do their job. That's where you come in.

So, let's drill down a bit and examine what the reasons or circumstances are in which a headhunter might talk to you.

Reason #1: When you are a strong potential candidate for one of their existing, current search assignments. Whether you have applied to an ad, sent in a blind resume, have been referred, or called, you will get attention only if you are a strong match for the assignment they are working on.

A search firm gets paid to attract people who are among the best in their field, not those just able to do the job. This is where a lot of frustration occurs among candidates.

Reason #2: When your background appears to be highly placeable for a future opportunity AND fits with the kind of work they do. Similarly, if they have the time, you may get their attention if your profession and industry are closely aligned with the kind of work they do, and your career trajectory is impressive. They will judge how placeable you are, that is, how likely it is that one of their clients would want to hire you. If there is a strong fit, then yes, they may make time for you.

Reason #3: When someone they respect refers you. The world of executive search and recruitment is about relationships and exchange of information. Yes, they post ads, but the ads are often failsafes. The real work occurs on the phones, speaking with people in their networks about who is good and who is ready to take on this challenge.

Referrals. That's how it works. So, search professionals tend to be highly attuned to incoming referrals from their network. The referrers may be current and past clients, industry experts, or former candidates. The later category is tricky. The power of the referral in this case really depends on the level of relationship that candidate had with the search firm.

Reason #4: When they want to have a relationship with you. If they conclude that you are a player, someone who might hire them to do search work in the future; someone who is well respected in the industry; someone with a big and powerful network, then they may be very attentive in starting a relationship with you. Being an up-and-comer is also considered. You may not, in their eyes, be ready today, but talking to you now may in fact be a good investment of time on their part.

Reason #5: When the market is slow. The fewer active assignments they have, the more time there is to fill their pipeline. Yes, they will be out looking for new clients, but it is also a time to catch-up on meeting new candidates. In a slower market, they are likely to be a little more open in who they talk to.

Reason #6: Lastly, when you target a junior, but motivated professional in the firm. You might not be able to get a partner or senior consultant's attention, but you may be able to with an associate or researcher. Don't underestimate the power of these folks to insert you into the search firm's active system and assignments. And, they need to build their career with strong, relevant and productive relationships. It could be you.

That's it. Yes, you may get in because you catch someone on a good day, and they feel like helping, but don't count on it. As a rule, these are the only instances when you can get an audience with a search firm.

Have you noticed something? If you are smart, and I know you are, you will see that you can turn this around to employ strategically. Who do you know that can refer you? Who is an up and comer in the firm but likely hungry to build there rolodex? And so on.

Everyone knows that in order to have a successful online business, you need to generate traffic - you need visitors, and you need subscribers to your newsletter or ezine. The way to do this is through advertising your website or sales page on the web, effectively and consistently. Here are some ways to attract visitors to your site:

First you need to have an attractive website. If you are just starting out, it's not a bad idea to have someone build the website for you, as long as this service provides the option for you to modify the site to your liking once you get more knowledgeable about website design, and learn the basics of HTML. You are not required to make any changes to the pre-built site, but having that option is always nice once you learn the ropes and decide you want to change something on your own.

An attractive website will capture your visitor's attention immediately. Too many graphics or audio/video loads at first seem appealing, but will slow down the page-load time. If it takes too long to load, your visitors are likely to click off your site and search for what they want elsewhere. A good way of capturing people's attention is to make your site consistent in color-scheme and design so that when they click a link to another page of your site, they see the same background.

You also want your website to be fairly simple, focusing on one main topic and not being about ten unrelated things. If there are different products or services under the main topic, then provide good navigation on your site so that your visitors can easily find their way from point A to point B without having to search hard for what they want. Your topic will have your visitor's needs and values in mind. Know who your target market is, and focus on satisfying the needs of that age group, education level, etc.

If you want your visitors to trust you as a good source of information, one way to achieve this is by having a good privacy statement that shows that their privacy will be protected, and providing your contact information on each page so your visitors can get ahold of you. In addition, you want them to provide feedback about your products and services, so providing an email or form so that they can do this is both effective and interactive. Another good way to build trust and capture attention is by offering something for free, such as a free ebook download - an ebook packed with useful information that covers at least some aspects of your website topic. Offering a freebie as a benefit for subscribing to your newsletter is an excellent way to build your subscriber list.

Finally, today's internet gurus suggest that the best way to attract visitors to your site is by having good content that is maintained and updated regularly. This includes having good articles, a blog, quality links, and submitting your URL to search engine directories so that your site can be found.

Top Ten Travel Nursing "Hot Spots"

Description:

A list of the "Top Ten" destinations that nurses choose, based on the number of travelers who inquire about each location every month.

Content:

The great thing about being a traveling nurse boils down to one key component - it's about the travel! For those of us who love moving around and seeing the world, travel nursing is the profession of our dreams. There are many travel destinations available, based on weather, activities, cost of living, and salary. Therefore, I have gathered a list of my "Top Ten" destinations that nurses choose, based on the number of travelers who inquire about each location every month. Are you a travel RN scouting a new assignment? Then I'd like to suggest the following ten "Hot Spots":

HAWAII - It's no shock that Hawaii generates over 500 travel nursing inquiries per month. The wide range of outdoor activities from snow-capped mountains to snow-white sandy beaches elevates Hawaii to one of those meccas where you can build a snowman or a sand castle all in one day. Nurses tell me that you'll discover virtually every type of outdoor activity imaginable—hiking trails that wind through erupting volcanoes, secret beaches, and lush green ranchlands. Many travelers also hunt, mountain bike, go rafting, and golf on some of the world's most extravagant courses.

ALASKA - Travel nurses are intrigued by the possibilities of Alaska's rugged mystery. Alaska is a huge wilderness with beautiful scenery, and travel nursing assignments offer plenty of time to see and do everything you want, whether in winter's darkness under northern lights, or the glorious spring and summer where it's light most of the time. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy Alaska for its' wildlife, spectacular natural landscape, and fishing expeditions where the fish really are as big as the stories about which they're told. Countless day cruises and sightseeing expeditions abound, as well as opportunities to hike, kayak, canoe, ski... Need we say more?

MONTANA - Whether photographer, adventurer, or both, Montana is truly a state that beckons with open arms. River trips, fishing and camping, history, snowy mountain ranges, and waterfalls are what you'll encounter, along with plenty of open space to explore. Assignments in Montana appeal to those travel nurses who just need some time to break away from their city grind to enjoy marching to the beat of an entirely different drummer. The Big Sky Country boasts some of America's most famous mountains, canyons, river valleys, forests, grassy plains, badlands, and caverns, and many travelers find it just irresistible enough to keep coming back.

MAINE - Maine's splendor has inspired artists like Georgia O'Keefe and three generations of the Wyeth family, since the mid-nineteenth century. Travel nurses can't resist at least one adventure in this charming getaway. Whether you embark on outdoor adventures like skiing and snowmobiling, or if you prefer the cozy ambience of antiquing through charming villages or just strolling or riding horseback on miles of sandy beaches in the smell of salt air, Maine is legendary and offers some wonderful travel nursing experiences. Its' unique culture is outdoorsy and quaint, and of course you get to enjoy lobster as the locals do—fresh from the ocean!

CALIFORNIA - Warm weather and world-famous beaches make California a favorite choice for traveling nurses. Nine-hundred miles of coastline gives nurses in all locations the chance to spend many hours near the waves; and for nature lovers, California is home to many wildlife parks, remote wilderness areas, and safe-havens for endangered animals. If you're an excitement junkie, you can scout out a wide selection of theme parks; and no matter what your taste in music, concerts abound in every type of venue. Historic sites and museums invite, as do five-star restaurants and clubs in which to see and be seen. The shopping is unparalleled, whether it's trendy Melrose Place, La Jolla, or the strand in Venice Beach; and of course it's home to Hollywood, and, yes, movie stars. Whether northern, southern, or coastal locations, traveling nurses return to California time and again.

WASHINGTON - The Evergreen State boasts the gorgeous Pacific Ocean, the Cascade Mountains, desert experiences, rain forests, towering volcanoes, glaciers, and lush wine country. Washington State rates high on the list of many nurse travelers. Must-sees are the Space Needle and Coulee Dam. The culture here is incredibly diverse; sophisticated, outdoorsy, and loaded with resorts, history, parks, museums, and botanical gardens. Whether touring downtown Seattle for cozy antique and book stores, exploring ancient Indian grounds, or hiking and biking mountains or trails, Washington holds a strong allure for many nurse travelers.

SOUTH CAROLINA - Endless adventure, excitement, fun and exploration represent why South Carolina is always a favorite destination for travel nurses. America's oldest landscaped gardens frame mansions rife with historical heritage, in addition to pristine beaches and legendary marshy wetlands. For all you golfers, with over 330 golf courses, there's always a new place to swing your clubs. But what fascinates many traveling nurses is the rich heritage in which South Carolina has paved the roads of culture, art, and folklore in our past. You can visit several historical areas and discovery centers of American history, including the American Revolution and the Civil War.

COLORADO - World-class winter skiing and summer music festivals in the mountains are just two reasons that nurses love traveling to Colorado. Boasting four spectacular seasons, Colorado is where travel nurses get to explore the state's 18 million acres of state and national parks, forests, and monuments for biking, hiking, fishing, mountain climbing, and kayaking, to name a few. Colorado has many cultural treasures, including ancient Native American sites and dinosaur fossil exhibits, historic ghost towns, and even award-winning vineyards in Grand Junction. And for those who enjoy city life, amid all this natural beauty lie wonderful metropolitan areas like Denver and Boulder, full of shopping, performing arts, and professional sports.

TENNESSEE - From energetic nights of blues on Beale Street, to gorgeous rolling acres of Tennessee Walker horse country, to peaceful Smoky Mountain sunsets, Tennessee is a vacation that offers many world-renowned attractions. Nurse travelers who visit Tennessee will find that they're within a day's drive of 75-percent of the U.S. population via quality interstates and highways. Attractions in Tennessee include the Jack Daniels' distillery, Elvis's Graceland, the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, and lots of southern hospitality. And don't forget the crown jewel of the southern Appalachians, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

ARIZONA - If you adore the outdoors, then the Grand Canyon State might just be for you. The nurses who go there just rave about Arizona's landscape which takes in tall mountain ranges, swift rivers, grasslands, sand dunes, and cactus forests all set against a beautiful sky that glows pink in the sunset. The traveler nurses who enjoy history will find plenty of it here, including Old West reformations, Native American nations, and Spanish-influenced areas all in one state. Arizona is also home to the nation's greatest golf courses, resorts, spas, cabins, and ranches.

As you can see, limitless possibilities exist for those nurses who want travel, fun, and adventure to be part of their daily lives. If you're a nurse who travels and it's time for you to move on to a new location, try one of these top travel nursing destinations and see what new experiences lie ahead.

Sql Server Interview Questions on File Server and Client Server Database

Description:

This article provides you the informations on sql server interview questions on file server and client server database.

Content:

One of major things in two of this approach is of working with data but both of these works in different manner.

In File Server Database approach the data is stored in the file and user have to take data directly from the file. When any change is to be made it is directly on the file application that is open .The file and data writes to these files. If 10 users are online on data then 10 are working and writing on the file.

In a client server approach data is still stored in a file but controlled by a server all the access in the hand of server. When any of application wants to make use of existing data then application request is send to server. After that server reads the request and send feedback. When any of application wants to writes something on file the request is send to server the server writes on the file. One single person reads and writes from this data files.

Oracle, Informix, Microsoft Sql Server are the best suit example of client server databases. Single user desktop just like Microsoft access.

There are lots of advantages of client server databases.

1) Single program reading and writing data the less chance of accidental changes or crashes of data.
2) Only single program play good role of security so enforcement of security is easy.
3) Client server databases use network bandwidth more efficiently then file server databases.
4) All things are handling by single computes so performance is good and quite impressive.
5) Client-servers databases use some good features that protect our data just like logging transactions and recovery from disk and network errors.

Some of these features are also available in file server approach but these need more expensive client server market. You can also learn more on dot net interview questions.

Top 10 Reasons to Hate Your Sponsor and 11 Reasons to Love Them!

Description:

Network Marketing is full of potholes. Don't leave your success in the hands of your upline or you just might fall in one of them!

Content:

Have you ever been so excited about something you thought would make you a lot of money, only to have it blow up in your face and let you down? You're not alone. Thousands of people join one or more of the many network marketing business opportunities that are flashed all over the net. The sad part is that many people end up a lot broker at the end than when they first started. Does that describe you?

There are various reasons for this, one being that perhaps the person that brought you into the business, also known as a sponsor, did not know a heck of a lot about marketing or even business for that matter. They couldn't even point you in the right direction. It's a classic case of the blind leading the blind.

This is one of many challenges you will endure in your network marketing journey. You will either succumb or prosper from these challenges. However, it's through these challenges that you learn some of the secrets to becoming massively successful in your business. Most of these lessons will be taught to you unknowingly by the ones closest to you in your business - your sponsor and the rest of you upline. Here are the top challenges and the lessons learned.

1. They never return your calls or anyone else's.

As a result, you learn to be independent and seek out answers for yourself.

2. They have conference calls that last for hours, but it's always the same old tired MLM propaganda i.e. "everybody can do this business!" Or "everyone needs to order more
products!"

As a result, you learn to differentiate between leaders that lead and leaders that follow everybody else.

3. They encourage you to do more of "it" - whatever that means!

As a result, you learn how to track your marketing so that you know what's working and what is not working, and thus improve "it".

4. They tell you to "smile and dial" knowing damn well you don't have any teeth.

As a result, you learn not to take things so personally and listen for the spirit of the message and not the literal meaning.

5. They give you a list of eight month old leads and tell you should be able to sponsor someone!

As a result, you learn to be grateful for the little help they do give you.

6. After signing you up and taking your credit card number, they disappear into the Twilight Zone never to be heard from again until convention rolls around.

You learn to persevere and carry-on and be a better role model than the one they were to you.

7. They don't give you any advice or guidance, but yet wonder why you aren't building your business and making them richer.

As a result you learn that your success or failure lies within you and not them.

8. They lie and tell you everyone is your prospect, so you immediately make an ass out of yourself lurking in the business section of Barnes and Noble waiting for unsuspecting victims to vomit your mlm spiel on.

As a result, you learn better marketing techniques on your own, and you become more successful than them.

9. You find out that your sponsor was part of a contest to see how many prospects could be signed up in a month...she won and you realize that you were just another "number" and worth a $5 bag of popcorn at Target!

As a result, you learn that no one else can determine your value. Your value to the marketplace will be determined by the skills you bring forth.

10. After two years, you're just as broke and you're ready to quit after spending thousands of dollars on self-development, self-improvement, and self-enlightenment CDs.
Your sponsor then says to you..."You didn't give it a chance."

As a result, you look back and see what you've done that got you to this point. You re-assess your marketing and business plans and decide to continue on and stay the course
until you succeed.

Through their indifference to you and their faulty 1970s marketing advice, you have persevered and found a way to build your business successfully.

You've managed to do it without making massive phone calls to idiots who fill out "work at home surveys" to get an IPOD like the one they already have. And you did it without them and in spite of them.

Thus, the eleventh reason to love your sponsor is that they forced you to become the leader that they could never be. You were forced to find a better way. And you did.

The Obstacles Working Women Have To Overcome

Description:

There are few, if any, barriers that prevent men from obtaining training for a job, entering the job market or changing careers at some point in their lives. This is not the case for women. They have traditionally been homemakers and care givers.

Content:

There are few, if any, barriers that prevent men from obtaining training for a job, entering the job market or changing careers at some point in their lives. This is not the case for women. They have traditionally been homemakers and care givers. While single women are free to explore training and job opportunities, they are expected to give it all up once they are married or begin a family.

It is not that women aren't competent. During both world wars, women left the home and went to work so that the men could join the armed services and fight the enemy. Thousands of women worked in the munitions, aircraft, automobile, steel and other industries. When the men came back home, women were expected to give up their jobs and return to being home makers and mothers. Women have served in some occupations and no one has ever protested their work as salesgirls, typists, telephone operators or nurses.

Today, women work in nearly every occupation, including astronauts, senators, physicians, surgeons, lawyers and other positions of prestige and importance. Ask any woman if it was difficult to get where she is today and she will tell you that she faced many obstacles that men do not face. Women often face discrimination before they get to their chosen occupation. In many colleges and universities, there is a lack of role models for young women. There is not a ready supply of women professors to advise female students about the benefits of networking and discovering, like men do, who can help them get their careers started.

Women will explain that it is difficult to juggle being a career woman and a mother. In many careers, there is a "mommy track" for women who want to work and be a care giver too. This career path doesn't lead to being the head of the department or president of the company. It is a sidetrack to a job that dead ends. Why? It is because men in most fields see themselves as dedicated to their jobs. Women who want to have families are not viewed the same way. Men feel that they have lost interest in their jobs and are no longer dependable. When a crisis arises at home, women will leave their jobs and tend to their children. This is not the way, men think, to act. The paying job is all important and cannot be abandoned at any time.

For the woman returning to work after being a mother for many years, the path is hard. Unless there is need for a second income, men do not understand why their wife wants to work. There is no emotional support for them if they don't find work in their field because men feel it's not something they need to do. Because they have not kept up with advances in their field, women may not hired at all. If they are hired, they may shunted into a path within the industry that has no future.

Women need to find support groups, in person or online, that can help them navigate the path to getting training, getting the job and rising as far as they can within their field. The support groups can serve as mentors, providing role models and important advice on how to succeed. Women in positions of power and authority need to network with their younger colleagues and provide the assistance that they wanted when they were first starting out. With today's computer technology, more and more people work at home. Women should learn how to use this technology to overcome the "mommy track."

The reports of money to be made through mystery shopping are wildly divergent. Some people claim to work full-time as mystery shoppers and make as much as $40,000 to $50,000 per year. Some mystery shopping sites indicate that people who sign up with them can expect to be offered as many as 10 opportunities per day. Even the Wall Street Journal apparently published a widely quoted 2004 story about a woman who is a very successful mystery shopper, who had made $7,000 in one month.

What is the average person to make of all that? As the old saw goes, don't quit your day job yet.

Other people who have tried the whole mystery shopping gig, acknowledge that it can be an interesting and profitable sideline or a lucrative addition to something like a retirement income. Two factors to consider before you decide to commit to a mystery shopping career are: how will it play out in my geographic area and what will be involved as far as transportation is concerned.

Larger, urban areas offer more possibilities for mystery shopping. A geographic area with a population of over 100,000, for example, is likely to have several malls, a distribution of independent stores, a business district where shopping is somewhat congregated, and fairly easy access to finding everything.

Small cities with only 30,000 or 40,000 people can be limited by the sheer number of businesses available. Larger metropolitan areas can present their own set of access problems, if the shopper has to travel substantial distances across a city to get to mystery shopping assignments. Public transportation is time consuming, and let's face it, the price of gas is prohibitive.

There are mystery shopping jobs out there and they are obtainable, depending on your skills and circumstances. However, it is important to weight all of the various factors involved in a mystery shopping assignment carefully before agreeing to accept it.

First, make sure that it pays sufficiently to be worth your time. Many mystery shoppers won't accept an assignment that does not include a fee in addition to the merchandise or service purchased. In other words, you may get a free meal or a free movie, but if you want to get full value for your time, make sure it also pays you a certain amount of real money that will pay for your gas and the time you spend filling out the report. Or, if you have plenty of time on your hands and the potential for seeing a movie for free is payment enough, go for it! After all, value is in the eye of the beholder.

The Right Thumb Rules Of An Effective Copywriter

Description:

A copywriter usually works on advertising agencies; they work hand in hand with the art editors. And because of the nature of their job, they must be effective enough to encourage their readers to become customers.

Content:

A copywriter usually works on advertising agencies; they work hand in hand with the art editors. And because of the nature of their job, they must be effective enough to encourage their readers to become customers. This responsibility relies primarily on the efficiency of the copywriter as he works on the text content. While the art editor takes charge of the aesthetic appeal, the copywriter should as well inhibit influential ideas.

Such efficiency can significantly be brought about by experience. However, a copywriter must primarily be equipped by the adhering rules. If he does not know basic grammar and use of punctuations, how else would he edit the work of others? In addition, the copywriter must also be oriented that every person has his own style of writing. Although he has the authority to make renditions, he must keep in mind that the idea of the writer must be preserved.

Since copywriting is all about effective promotion, you should have at least a guideline to adhere to produce substantial outputs.

First, and perhaps the most fundamental of all, is for you to review the copy. Typographical or clerical errors are oftentimes surprisingly placed between lines. Scan your final copy at least five times to avoid such incidents.

Articles should not pose a mysterious and clever effect. Your audience, even those who are not that witty and brainy, should be able to get what your piece is all about. Do not allow them to be confused in working out what you mean in the write-up.

Make use of short sentences. Also, organize your ideas systematically; that is, paragraphs should enclose only one idea. Extremely complex sentences with lengthy clauses just give rise to confusion and boredom among the readers.

As much as possible, be accurate with the facts. When dealing with figures, for example, avoid the use of "about 70%" or "more than a hundred". Instead of percentage and estimates, state the exact numbers and details.

Do not be constrained with the idea that your article has to be perfectly grammatically correct. The observation of grammar rules is a basic. But sometimes, this limits the copywriter from writing his ideas. To help you, state your sentences in the simplest approach possible.

Consider the audience. Whom are you writing for? Just imagine that you are selling the item or product to somebody. Write as if you're discussing with your target customers. Choose effective terms. Say, "information" can be replaced by "facts" which has a greater impact to the audience.

Simplicity is a must. Pick out words that can be understood by everyone. Do not worry about producing an output with a childish quality for such is a good piece.

Researches have shown that lengthy articles sell more compared to short ones, as well as long headlines over short. You should write with the appropriate length as needed to successfully sell the product.

When writing, imagine you're sending the article to somebody you know who is just like your target audience. You can think of your dad, mom, a classmate, a neighbor, or whoever. This will help you to easily come up with a more fresh and comprehensive output.

Reading books, magazines and other resources can help you compare the advertising techniques employed by other men. Effective advertising is more effective when you know more.
