How Core Beliefs Become Learning Behaviors

Description:

Why do we do the things we do? What is self-sabotage? How come many of my decisions are automatic? This short article is taken from Dr. Brian Walsh's book, "Unleashing Your Brilliance."

Enriched learning is all about the effective absorption and integration of new material. The more you know about the concepts, the more you will find out things unknown to your parents, to teachers, and even to neuroscientists just a decade ago.

For instance, ninety-five percent of your behavior reflects patterns and habits mostly acquired when you were very young. Because our educators and caregivers didn't know any better, most of us grew up with ineffective study habits. Countless hours have been wasted in classrooms and in home study, and have often yielded frustration, self-limiting beliefs, and low self-esteem. However, there's no need to take it anymore! No matter what your age, you can learn successfully and with delight.

Freud popularized the concept of the subconscious (or what is sometimes also called the unconscious or the non-conscious). Although your conscious mind plays an important role, learning has much more to do with non-conscious processing than with conscious thought. Remember that, as you learn how to nourish and develop it, your mind's chief responsibility is your protection; in fact, your survival.

Let me use an analogy to explain the power of the subconscious mind. If your feet are flat on the floor, the area under your feet corresponds to the processing ability of your conscious mind. The floor area in the room not covered by your feet represents the power of your subconscious mind. Your conscious mind operates at around 126 bits per second, and your subconscious mind is 10,000 times faster. Clearly, the power is really in the subconscious.

As a therapist, I have found that most issues that adults present to me originate in their first seven years of life. This imprint phase of social development is at a time when the conscious mind is not yet fully developed, before growth of a vital filter to assess incoming information's validity, the so-called Critical Faculty. Well aware of this, advertisers use the term Critical Faculty Bypass when weighing the effectiveness of advertisements. If the advertising message gets through to the emotional subconscious mind, then the likelihood of purchase increases. What does this have to do with learning? Quite a lot. Read on.

If life-long patterns are set in the first seven years of life, then it's important for parents, older siblings, coaches, teachers, and any other influencers to be extremely careful with their language, both verbal and non-verbal. If a parent says, "You're just like your father. You'll never amount to anything" or "It's a good thing you're cute, because you're not very smart". The messages go directly, in the absence of a strong Critical Faculty, to the subconscious where accepted as valid, they begin to form patterns and beliefs. Subsequent fractured self-esteem and self-doubt results.

Elephant trainers use an interesting control technique. When an elephant is still very young, the trainer attaches one end of a strong chain to one of the elephant's legs, and the other end to a stake. This allows the animal the freedom of a very defined circle, and, harnessed day after day, the elephant learns that this circle is its only territory. As the years go by, the chain is progressively exchanged for thinner and thinner ropes. The trainer knows that the elephant could walk away at any time, but the elephant doesn't catch on, and so remains within the defined circle. Important questions for you from this are: What's your circle? What are your self-limiting beliefs?

How To Get Return Customers

Description:

Explains to to build customer loyalty and get customers to come back and buy more.

Content:

One of the toughest parts of running a small business is building customer loyalty. Unlike big companies, you may not have the requisite infrastructure or funds to invest in big banner ads or give out freebies and discount coupons. How then, do you ensure that the customer comes back to your establishment? If you run a home-based business, then you probably know that it takes time to break even. You need to concentrate on building customer loyalty just as much as you need to attract new customers.

How to Build Customer Loyalty A scheme of rewards, incentives, and discussion of customer profiles is one way. However, there are many other ways to build customer loyalty. Some of these ways are listed below.

1.Customer Loyalty Programs: Discounts and incentives are a great attraction for customers. You can make loyalty programs that reward the customer for consistent purchases from your company.

2.Maintain Customer Profiles: In order to reward your past customers, you must know their preferences and keep track of what they have bought from you in the past.

3.Up-to-Date Information: Offer your customers information about your latest products through newsletters and emails. In addition, always maintain a lot on stock, because running out of stock means that the customers will switch to another company with something similar in stock.

4.Personalized Service: Personalized service makes customers feel special, and increases customer loyalty. You should be polite and courteous to customers, and they should feel that there is someone to listen to their complaints, if any.

If the customer has a complaint about your product and wants to return it, then it should be easy for them to do so. Most home-based businesses working through an online store do not have a satisfactory system in place, in case the customers want to return what they bought.

5.Feedback: In order to keep improving your products and services, you should encourage feedback from customers. If your customers feel their opinion is important, they will come back to buy products from your establishment.

The Importance Of Customer Loyalty Building customer loyalty is not as difficult as some people think. However, you need a little experience before you can make the sales pitch or plan great customer loyalty programs. Small business consultants can help you with your customer loyalty programs. Happy customers are a sound investment. Not only will they do more business with you, they will also bring other customers to you.

Top 10 Signs Your Addicted to eBay

Description:

A simple yet funny Top 10 David Letterman Spoof. Anyone that uses eBay on a regular basis will be able to appreciate this.

Content:

There are literally millions of people that are striving each and everyday to make an easy buck online. The idea of making money online and especially, making money on eBay, is not new. In fact, the eBay market is a little too saturated if you ask me.

With all the nail-biting, finger-clawing, head to head competition for bids on eBay, I thought it would be nice to take a step back and poke some fun at the eBay rush. Below is a list of the top 10 signs that your addicted to eBay. Anyone that uses, or has used eBay will be able to appreciate the truth behind the list.

The Top 10 Signs Your Addicted to eBay!

10. You consider selling the piece of chewing gum you found on your shoe.

9. You apply for a new loan and give your pay pal address as your only bank account.

8. You've taken down the degree and awards in your office to be replaced by self made power seller print-outs.

7. You save all your toe-nail clippings in a jar, hoping that one day they may be worth a small fortune.

6. You wear the same underwear for a week, waiting for your chance to outbid "gstring-guru" on a pair of used designer briefs.

5. You spend several hours a day trying to burn the face of Mary onto pieces of French Toast.

4. You've marked 87 separate - 2 inch sections on your body that can be sold as advertising space to the highest bidder.

3. You've lost so much sleep due to bidding wars that you are chosen as Christian Bale's replacement in The Machinist II.

2. You have to see a therapist because the negative feedback you got is killing your self esteem.

And the number 1 sign that you use eBay way too much,
1. You go to the county registrar and change your legal name to your eBay User ID.

While this list is meant to be a spoof on the David Letterman top 10 lists, the truth behind the humor is meant to hit home. eBay, like many other online sites have both good and bad users, many of which are out to take your money and run.

When you are using eBay, be sure to check the seller and buyer feedback prior to bidding. Don't be afraid to ask questions, or insist that the seller "prove" the authenticity of their product. In the end, if you have any doubts about bidding on an item, walk away. Most things people bid on are not needed and definitely not worth taking the risk of being ripped off.

Patrick Henry Hansen

On February 28, 1953, Francis Crick walked into the Eagle pub in Cambridge, England, and announced that he and James Watson had “found the secret of life.” In just a few weeks of frenzied inspiration, the two men made one of the most profound discoveries in history by building a model of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) that demonstrated how the very structure of DNA provides one of life’s most essential features: the storage and transmission of genetic code. The men had solved a problem that had been baffling the scientific community for years—how did the DNA molecule make exact copies of itself? Biochemists already knew that DNA contained a biological code, a genetic language that consists of four types of molecules, known as bases—adenine, cytosine, thymine, and guanine—referred to as A, C, G, and T, but how those molecules made exact replicas of each other was still a mystery. Back in the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge, Watson and Crick concentrated on identifying the form of DNA rather than its function. They built model after model of the possible structure of DNA until on March 7, 1953, when they discovered the solution: DNA has a double helix shaped like a spiral staircase with the four bases representing the steps. Their model suggested a mechanism by which DNA could make copies of itself. The two strands of genes that made up the DNA molecule can simply unzip or unravel into reverse images of each other that can act as templates for new strands to build on. The genius of DNA is that its form is its function. Its shockingly simplistic double helix structure allows the molecules to make facsimiles of themselves, and because the bases always bond in the exact sequence, the finished copies are always the same. The concept was stunning in its implications. Using the scientific method, Watson and Crick made the most celebrated discovery of the twentieth century. The double helix now stands as an icon of the scientific understanding of life.

The Science of Selling

The same way DNA consists of the building blocks of life, The DNA Selling Method consists of the building blocks of effective selling. Similar in concept to DNA, The DNA Selling Method is a selling language—a code of questions. It is a process of discovery—a questioning framework whose form is its function.

Like most sales professionals, I learned early in my career that selling was more of a science than an art. I learned that asking the right questions was more important than looking for the right answers; however, knowing the importance of asking the right questions was not enough. My questions seemed random and, at times, even uncomfortable. Asking questions “off the top of my head” was sporadic and ineffective. This unorganized approach quite often left me tongue-tied and unable to communicate effectively. I needed a system—a questioning methodology. I needed a process that was easy to understand, easy to remember, and easy to replicate from one sale to the next. I decided to write down a series of questions that I deemed important to making sales. I then organized the questions into categories. For example, I separated qualification questions from questions that identified client needs. I differentiated need related questions from solution related questions. The result was The DNA Selling Method—a questioning methodology that leads buyers through the sales cycle.

The DNA Selling Method is based on the premise that correct principles of selling have not changed. They have remained unaltered for thousands of years. If we were to view an ancient Persian craftsman selling goods or services to a Greek merchant, his selling skills would be similar, if not exact, to the skills and tactics of a salesperson today. Selling practices may have changed. But correct principles of selling have not.

Like a compass or atomic clock—sellers need to adjust their selling behaviors to reflect accurate and effective selling principles. And the most fundamental—and most universally recognized principle of successful selling—is asking effective questions. The point is that salespeople do not need to invent new selling principles. They simply need to discover them. And that is what The DNA Selling Method does. It helps sales professionals recognize and implement ancient, validated, intelligent selling principles.

The DNA Selling Method is a question-based approach to selling that follows a rational probing sequence and provides sellers with a systematic approach to qualifying accounts and closing sales. Like the four bases of DNA, The DNA Selling Method consists of four probing categories that guide buyers and sellers through the purchasing process:

1. Discovery-Qualification Questions: Questions that discover a buyer’s existing circumstance, account facts, qualification factors, and purchasing capabilities.

2. Need-Problem Questions: Questions that identify a buyer’s needs, problems, and primary buying motives.

3. Ascertain-Pain Questions: Questions that ascertain the negative consequences of unfulfilled needs and/or unresolved problems, i.e., the pain.

4. Solution-Benefit Questions: Questions that focus on the benefits of implementing the proposed solution.

Asking good questions is the cornerstone of any good sales strategy and is a skill that separates elite sales professionals from average sales representatives. Questions divulge information, uncover problems to solve, and equip sellers with information that can be used to deliver account-specific presentations that address the exact needs of buyers.

Think about what separates a good doctor from a bad doctor. Good doctors do not initially worry about getting the right answers. They concentrate on asking the right questions. They make intelligent inquiries, take notes, make observations, and listen. They initially gather information—they don’t provide it. Likewise, great sellers do not initially focus on providing information. They focus on acquiring it. Look at the most brilliant thinkers, innovators, and explorers of our time. They emphasized questions more than answers, a characteristic of highly intelligent individuals. Note the root of the word question is “quest”—the act of seeking or pursuing something, a search beyond that which is already known.

The DNA Selling Method is a logical questioning methodology that helps sales people on their “quest” for information. It is a selling approach that guides sellers through the sales cycle. By asking discovery questions, sellers acquire the information needed to make informed proposals. By asking qualifying questions, sellers spend time and attention on buyers with the greatest purchasing potential. By asking need-problem questions, sellers unearth primary buying motives. By asking ascertain-pain questions, sellers identify the negative consequence of not filling a need or solving a problem. And by asking solution-benefit questions, sellers get buyers to articulate the benefits of the proposed solution.

Self-interest is the catalyst that moves people to act. By asking DNAS questions sales people focus on the interests of the buyer. They ask questions that are customer centric instead of product centric. Common sense? Of course. Common practice? Unfortunately, it’s not.

Because questioning is such a fundamental part of successful selling, it’s important to use an effective questioning methodology—a strategy. By using The DNA Selling Method, sellers add structure, repeatability, and predictability to the questioning, presenting, and selling process. By implementing the DNA Selling Methodology sales people utilize a proven sales methodology that reflects validated selling principles

Blog Your Way To Riches!

If you are looking for a great business idea, a Blog, short for "Web Log," is a hot way to generate lots of traffic to your website! People are searching the internet for free information and having your own Blog is a great way to deliver it to them. Why would you want to give away free information? Because with time people will come to view you as an authority figure on whatever topic your Blog is about, and then eventually they will gain trust in you, and people will buy much more readily from people who they know and trust!

A Blog is basically a webpage that focuses on information rather then on flashy graphics. This is great if your knowledge of HTML is slim to none. The only thing you need to do is, post "articles" to your Blog on whatever topic you decide your Blog will be about, such as, Business opportunities, business ideas, affiliate programs, home based business, work at home, make money online, etc. The optimal number of words that should make up each of your articles is 450-600. The best way to run your Blog is by posting one new article a day. This way people will keep coming back to your Blog every day to read your latest article, and as I mentioned earlier this will not only familiarize people with whom you are but it will also build their confidence and trust in you, creating a state of mind in people that facilitates buying! On your Blog you would want to put a link to your website along with your biographical information such as: [John Doe is the owner of yoursite.com. John specializes in helping people to work at home with their own home based business through the aid of various online business opportunities and affiliate programs. To make money online visit www.yoursite.com]. Your bio would be positioned at the end of each and every post you make so that people will always know were to find your site. As peoples confidence in you grow, more and more people will begin to visit your website and some will eventually buy from you!

If you don't like the thought of writing an article every day and you don't mind spending a little money you can pay a "Ghost Writer" to write your articles for you. No, one will know you are not the actual author and you will have the copyrights to the articles. You can find many ghost writers on the internet who will charge very reasonable prices. For instance for your Blog you would need about 30 articles written a month. You can find ghost writers who will write 30 quality articles for you every month for as low as $19.99!

There are lots of internet sites that will host your Blog site for free and setting up your Blog with them is E-A-S-Y! Once your Blog is set up the only thing you will need to do is post your articles each day. Sooner or later search engines will become aware of your Blog site. They will spider it, word for word, and when someone types a phrase or keyword that matches what is on one of your articles into one of the search engines, your Blog will show up on the search results with a link back to your Blog so be sure to include phrases and keywords into your articles that have a high search rate!

One last thing I should mention is that, you can also put cost-per-click(CPC) advertising, such as Google AdSense, on your Blog to earn additional revenue. You will be paid every time someone clicks on one of their ads on your Blog. Google makes it just as easy for you to put their AdSense ads on your Blog as it is for you to set up your Blog and it's free! As time goes on and more of your articles are bringing in more traffic to your Blog, the amount of revenue CPC advertising will bring you can be quite substantial! Having a Blog is a terrific way to drive lots of free high quality relevant traffic to your website. It's easy to set up, requires no HTML, and it can also generate additional revenue for you through, cost-per-click(CPC) advertising. Most importantly it helps establish you as an authority figure, an expert in your field, who people will begin to believe in and eventually do whatever you say!

Becoming A Successful Day Trader

Description:

A day trader is a person who buys and sells stocks throughout the day. They generally purchase stocks in the morning and hold them from a few seconds to a few hours, but certainly sell all the stocks in hand before the close of each day.

Content:

There are two types of day traders - scalper and momentum traders. The scalper buys and trades stocks within minutes, whereas a momentum trader buy stocks that fluctuate from high to low during the day. But at the end of the day, the ultimate goal of a day trader is to buy stocks and sell them at the highest possible value.

A trader should be knowledgeable in paper trading and risk management. Traders keep themselves updated by reading stock exchange periodicals. It is essential for a day trader to absorb the relevant information completely and regularly. New York Stock Exchange and the National Association of Security Dealers impose minimum margin requirements for day traders.

A day trader's world is full of risk, where fortunes can change by the minute, depending on unpredictable market swings. Besides luck, the profit of a day trader depends upon how vigilant and fast they are. The trader's analytical, as well as risk management skills also determines success. The element of unpredictability is evident in every aspect of their work, ranging from holding positions on long trades that involve purchasing the stocks at a low rate and selling it later at a higher rate, to short selling that involves the reverse of long trades. This involves selling the stock at high rates in anticipation to compensate it when the prices fall, to speculating without being bothered with the fundamentals and technical aspects of the trade.

Characteristics Of A Day Trader

-Believe in their efforts and do not pay heed to rumors.
-They have a sharp analytical ability.
-They are strong-headed people, who are not affected by the prevalent market trends.
-They employ a mathematical approach.
-They work towards understanding the latest regulations related to trading fees and taxes.
-Day traders are not affected by the fluctuation of financial indicators such as NASDAQ and DOW JONES.

Anyone can become a day trader by opening a trading account with a brokerage company or a stock exchange or bank, provided it allows trading. You need to fulfill certain legal and commercial formalities, before initiating trades. You can become a day trader in any one of the following categories:

-Stock, bonds and securities.
-Foreign Exchange Currency
-Commodities - such as metals and food grains.

In order to be a successful day trader you need to be very cautious about every step you take, since a single mistake can turn successes into failures. You need to respond to liquidity and volatility quickly. Though day trading is a lucrative career, you need to keep in mind that you do not become an experienced day trader overnight. It requires time and rigorous practice. If you want to pursue day trading as a career, then you need to practice on a trading website to gain confidence in the application of new techniques and implement them in your career.

It is Important to Measure a Performance

Description:

People talk about metrics, indicators, scorecards and other. Do you know how to measure your business? Do you know what is good indicator and what is bad?

Content:

Is it really important to measure a business performance? I think if you will even need to purchase someone's business, then you will never ask this question and the answer will be "Yes! Sure!", because if you do not measure the performance of the business that you are going to purchase you will be going blind. Then why people don't like to measure the performance of their own businesses?

When you are inside, you see a lot, I would say you can see to much business and business mechanism, you are flowed with unimportant data, you having too many things to care about and sometime you even don't understand where this business is going. If you are a manager, then it is not a problem, but if you are CEO, then you have to think about things like this.

You will need some information diet, e.g. very limited information, which will tell you a lot about your business. There are different names for this diet, some call it balanced scorecard, another key performance indicators (KPI), also people are using "metrics" and "measures" to understand business better.

That's great, but do we really know what we do? Once someone found a new type "diet" his is trying to use it for his business, but it is a wrong approach. Your business is different, there are departments, such as Sales, HR, Security, Financial. These departments function in a different ways and if you will apply the same information diet to all of them you will fail.

For instance, if you deal with Financial department and have to measure bank loans efficiency. What will you do? Will you be measuring customer satisfaction, growth opportunities and your ability to work with "internal process"? All these indicators means NOTHING! What is "customer satisfaction" for bank loan (if you are customer yourself) or if you are bank? You use this words, but you don't want to detail them into some real-life metrics and indicators. That is the most important thing. I'd better have 6 bad indicators, that 60 great mission statements without any mean.

If you will ask me about performance and how to measure it, I will not answer you that you should measure customer satisfaction or bank's loan financial aspect, I will answer you: "Give me metrics!", "Give me indicators!"

What is bad, good and great performance indicator or metric? It is up to you and up to your business, but there are some common issues one must remember.

First, metric or indicator must measure. It should me math formula, equation, function. It must look like X = F(A1, A2, ... An). Where A1-n is the number of indicators you must look at and the F is the function which tells what to do with indicators. X is the performance value.

What is bad indicator? It is when you tell, let's measure customers' satisfaction in bank loan niche. You don't tell about what are you going to measure, how you are going to measure this, it's not a metric, but it's a good mission statement that tells about nothing.

What is great indicator or metric? It is the good metric (which we where talking above), but it is taken from some real-world business. So, it's not just your idea or ideas of some reported from business magazine, it's idea that works and it was checked by you. What you will need to do? You will need to pass it through you own business and optimize it to your business tasks. Work hard with business performance, and soon you will have a great business control tool.

What are the Best Google Adsense Alternatives?

Description:

Google AdSense has been revolutionary in terms of providing a way for webmasters to earn revenue from their web sites, particularly for smaller businesses. But are there any good alternatives to Google AdSense?

Content:

Google AdSense has been revolutionary in terms of providing a way for webmasters to earn revenue from their web sites, particularly for smaller businesses. But are there any good alternatives to Google AdSense?

It is not usually a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket, so you should identify several alternatives. By doing this you may even discover an alternative that is more lucrative for your site, and at the very least you will be prepared in case something happens to AdSense.

Let’s look at some of the best alternatives to Google AdSense advertisements on your web site.

Chitika

Instead of displaying the same old advertising units with text and image ads, Chitika provide active boxes that show targeted products from various manufacturers. Chitika boxes can even show an ad box containing a product alongside several competitors’ products.

Yahoo! Publisher Network

At the time of writing this Yahoo! Publisher Network is still in Beta mode but once it is fully released it should be a viable alternative to Google AdSense. As with AdSense you can provide your web visitors with contextual ads. Yahoo conveniently offers four ways to receive payment including PayPal. That will be welcomed by many international webmasters who grow old while waiting for US checks to arrive and then get cleared through their banks.

Sell Advertising Spots

This is a traditional alternative, but it is still a good one. If you have a strong customer base you should be able to find advertisers to purchase advertising spots on your web site. You can sell spots by the month and offer a discounted option for six and twelve months.

Write Affiliate Advertisements

If you don’t want to spend time trying to attract traditional advertisers you can make your own ads for affiliate products. Check out the thousands of products at ClickBank or Commission Junction. Select several products that closely match your visitors’ interests. Now write affiliate ads, or use image ads with your own affiliate link.

CBprosense

If you don’t want to manually write your own affiliate ads for ClickBank products then you could consider automating the process with CBprosense. It is a tool that will spider your site, analyze its content and then deliver a list of relevant links to the best performing products in the ClickBank marketplace.

These are five of the best alternatives to Google AdSense advertising. There are many more and several that promise to deliver contextual ads. However I suggest that whenever you are considering an alternative that promises contextual ads, do a quick check through your favorite search engine or webmaster forum to see if anyone is actually making any revenue by using their service. It is one thing to promise the technology, and another altogether to have sufficient advertisers to constantly deliver appropriate ads to your site.

10 Tips to Transform Creative Ideas Into Finished Products

Description:

If you're like most creatives, you have several projects going at once. You've heard the warnings of the Time Tyrants: "Finish what you start!" How do you conquer your own time challenges and move from wildly creative to prodigiously productive?

Content:

Creative people tend to keep several projects going at once. But too many clients tell me, "I have a lot of half-finished works in progress. I'm pulled in three or four different directions.

"So I work hard," they continue. "And I end up with nothing to show for my efforts."

So how do you go from creative idea to tangible creation? Here are 10 tips to get started.

(1) Create a system to store future projects.

It's so frustrating. Your best ideas tend to come when you're already working on a project. You're too busy to get involved. Or you get distracted, start working with the new idea, and...now you're pulled in 2 directions with no completion dates in sight.

Experienced creatives keep a file of these ideas, either on paper, posted to an "idea board" or on a computer disk. As time goes on, you keep adding notes. Eventually some ideas take on a life of their own. Others disappear quietly.

(2) Tell a story about what would happen if you finished each project.

"Susan finished all her art projects and..."
"Jeremy finally revised his resume and sent it out to 3 companies..."

Expect to be surprised by the twists and turns of your plot line. One client resisted finishing a book because she dreaded getting a slew of rejections from agents. Another resisted applying for jobs because he dreaded spending eight hours chained to a desk.

(3) Review your motivation for finishing these projects.

Do you need to finish something to make money? If you're feeling desperate, fear may be blocking your inspiration.

But if you don't need the work, you may find yourself asking, "Why bother?" Sometimes the best answer is, "Well, maybe I shouldn't."

(4) List your top 3 goals for the next 6 months.

What do you want to complete, even if you do nothing else?

And are you a single-tasker or a multi-tasker? Some creatives need to focus on a single goal or they get hopelessly distracted. But others (including most gifted adults) define themselves as multi-taskers. They won't be happy unless they're juggling several balls in the air.

(5) Describe the audience for each project you are constructing.

As a creative professional, your job is to sort through your many ideas. Your goal is to deliver finished products that will have value for a target market.

Even if you work for love and don't care about money, you still need to deliver value. When I took pottery lessons, most of my creations created negative value: I couldn't give them away!

But you may be your own best audience. If that's the case, get very clear on what value the project delivers to you. Do you want something you can display on a wall? A symbol of your own skill? A confidence builder?

In my experience, the more abstract the reward, the more creatives have difficulty with finishing.

(6) Create a distractions list.

If your creative project is related to a computer, it's easy to begin each day by reading email, checking statistics, browsing news websites, visiting forums...and more. Make a simple, non-judgmental list of your distractions. As you become more conscious of distractions, you'll find ways to get back on track.

(7) Develop warm-up exercises.

Warm-ups can be confused with distractions. Posting to your blog can be a distraction -- or it can be a "book-to-blog" exercise, where you write in your blog until you've completed a book.

Some creatives begin by reading over drafts of previous work. Others make notes on research, draw sketches or scribble outlines. Warm-ups come by trial and error. After awhile you'll learn what gets you ready to delve into the project and what becomes a new source of distraction.

(8) Create a strong support system, even if you have to hire a consultant or coach.

As Julia Cameron wrote in The Artist's Way, the notion of solitary creativity is nothing but a stereotype. Writers, artists, business owners and professionals need opportunities to talk about their progress. They need to feel someone cares about what they are doing and believes in them.

In my experience, this lack of a support network tends to be the single greatest source of success in any field.

(9) Work in small chunks.

When you get really stuck, I advise working in small bits and pieces. Set a timer for 15 minutes a day. Write 300 words and stop.

Chunks don't carry over. You write 600 words today - you still need 300 tomorrow! Don't be surprised if you exceed your goal once you get started. If the project really fits your life, a small chunk will feel like eating potato chips: once you get started, you want to add one more...and then another.
Each piece creates inspiration.

(10) Follow your own creative work style: open or closed.

Have you ever cleared the decks for your project: you have a whole day, or even a whole weekend. So you think, "Wow - I've got all this time!" And then somehow it's evening and you haven't accomplished anything.

You've made a discovery. Open work styles don't work for you.

Some people do well when they feel they're all alone on a desert island with no rescue in sight. They like to start early and keep going till they're too exhausted to move. Others (like me) like to feel pressured. If I have a lunch date, I'll work extra hard all morning.

Bottom Line: I find projects get completed when creatives follow their own agenda in their own style. Cookie-cutter time management techniques rarely work for everyone (and some work for no one). Get the time tyrants out of your life and you'll be far more productive than you ever anticipated.

Description:

Starting a home-based business requires a solid plan of action and blueprint for success. A home tutoring referral business is the perfect home-based business and with the right tools, it's easy to start, and very profitable.

Content:

With the rise in solopreneurs, those wanting to start a business at home, and those wishing to find a more satisfying career, the question remains, how do I do it? What's the magic ingredient that will allow me to work from home, leave corporate America, and finally make the kind of money I know I'm worth? The answer - consult an expert. Find someone who can provide you with a blueprint to success. Find someone who is already a success and knows exactly what to do right to make a business succeed. Laurie Hurley of Home Tutoring Business is that person.
Hurley is a tutor broker matching qualified tutors with students for private, individualized in-home tutoring. Hurley founded Home Tutoring Business, http://www.hometutoringbusiness.com to fill a much-needed niche in the educational services industry. After realizing the success she achieved, which included sales in the six digits, Hurley knew this was something that others would want: being a business that is in high demand nationwide, one that is easy to set up and requires little in the way of investment, and, most importantly, one that provides an enormous amount of self-worth. Corporate executives and those who once considered franchise ownership were some of the first to purchase this business package enabling them to start their own business.
One purchaser of the business package, Sharon from New Jersey was just about convinced of the need to invest $26K in buying an in-home tutoring franchise. She was about to leave her job in Corporate America and finally fulfill her dream of being an entrepreneur. She had spoken several times to the franchisor's marketing and sales people. They encouraged her to call the list they provided of franchise owners. She started calling and got many good reviews, but some not so positive ones. She put the contract aside and decided to think about it for a couple of weeks.
In the next two weeks the franchisor's president called her trying to convince her to buy a franchise. Sharon still wasn't sold on it and went back to the internet to search again for in-home businesses in the educational services industry, knowing it was a huge market. This time she typed in "own your own tutoring business" in Google and discovered there was an alternative.
She could buy a business package, complete with a customized website, accounting software, marketing materials and ad copy plus mentoring and consulting hours for literally a fraction of the cost of a franchise. Thinking it was too good to be true, she called Home Tutoring Business and spoke to Hurley for over an hour about the tutoring industry and all it had to offer. Sharon was glad to find that her goal of operating a business could be attained without the risk and expense of buying a franchise.
Founder, Laurie Hurley states, "Home Tutoring Business is committed to helping people fulfill their dreams and visions of being independent and succeeding in a career change."

Content:

One of the major concerns in the world today is depletion of energy. As concerned citizens all of us must make a concerted effort to be conscious citizens and save electricity. Electricity has become integral to life but imagine having to live without power.

Conservation of electricity benefits you personally as you will pay lower bills. Consider:

Doing an energy audit. This will tell you how and when you use energy and where the wastage lies. You will be able to make an "energy savings plan" by pinpointing exactly how you can cut back on energy consumption. Some ideas may be as simple as don't leave the coffee machine on at all times.

Think about resetting the thermostat ten degrees lower during the night. If you can do this for say approximately eight hours a day you will save 10% on electricity without sacrificing comfort. Insulate the home in winter by drawing shut the drapes.

Check all insulation in the house. If you increase attic insulation to around 12 inches the electricity consumption will reduce by 20 percent.

Plant more trees around the house these will cool the house in summer and insulate the house in winter. Studies show that a green cover benefits in many ways.

Have all electricity wires and outlets checked for leakage. Check all fuses and appliances.

Fluorescent light bulbs are energy efficient. They use 75% less energy than ordinary light bulbs. These have a longer life and contribute to great savings.

Use energy efficient appliances. These use less energy and believe it or not a high efficiency refrigerator uses less electricity than a light bulb.

When you are away even for a few hours or days you should turn off and unplug all electrical appliances and turn settings on the thermostat, water heater, and refrigerator to the lowest setting.

Ensure that you use a water-saving shower head. Water heating costs for a family can be lowered by at least US$ 250 a year.

Weatherize your home. This helps reduce heating bills by 20% and cooling by at least 10 percent. Even when building a home or decorating it use weather friendly materials—those that are not good conductors of heat and cold. Install windows and glass panes in the roof in such away that you use sunlight to light up the rooms during day light hours. Make an effort to switch off lights and fans when leaving a room. Ensure that the filters in air conditioners and heaters are always cleaned and free of clog and dust.

If you live an energy efficient lifestyle you will see the numbers on the energy bill actually reducing. The power to cut energy costs is well within your control. It is as simple as only washing full loads and that to in cold water. Use the hot wash option only for very dirty clothes. Cook food only just before you are ready to eat that way you can save reheating costs as well as refrigerating costs of storing the food. Turn the thermostat of the refrigerator to minimum in cold or cool weather. Switch off freezers if they are not in use. Small contributions can all add up to significant amounts of power saved. And, power saved means money in the bank.

The home is the person's castle. This is a place where the homeowner can relax and not worry about anything especially during the weekend.

What if there was a way to make money from the home? Will the person decide to quit the day job and focus on this full time? There are people who have answered the challenge and are making a decent amount of money. The same thing could also happen by doing the necessary research and then giving it a 110% effort.

Doctors need help when working with a lot of patients. The entrepreneur can work with the specialist by becoming a medical transcriptionist. It requires someone who has good hearing so that everything on tape can be put into words for future reference.

Those who don't have a medical degree or are not familiar with the terminologies can still do work at home as a data encoder. Companies would rather pay someone to do this than hire an employee full time because it will cost that much.

People who love to write can work as freelance writers. The person can be a food critique and get paid for eating in the newest establishments in town. The same thing can also happen by watching a movie screening before it hits the box office.

Nobody said that making money will never involve getting the hands dirty. Those who possess certain skills can come up with various scents, which is better known as aromatherapy.

The entrepreneur does not have to be a chemist. There are some schools that can teach this and after buying the ingredients, a persona line can be made and sold to the public.

Another way to make money will be to become a masseuse. There are also places that offer training and those who pass can do house calls to serve various clients.

An entrepreneur can charge a customer up to $50 for a one-hour session. Imagine if there are 4 people who schedule an appointment 5 days a week. That's a thousand bucks a week which isn't that bad at all.

Another great way to provide relief for those who have sore muscles is acupuncture. The specialist will have to take classes to know where the needles will be placed. Doing this the wrong way can injure or even kill the patient which is why people are required to go to school and take an example before being allowed to practice.

Those who have big backyard can try organic farming. Studies show that more people are becoming health conscious and prefer products that are not mixed with fertilizers and other chemicals. The entrepreneur will plant vegetables and then sell this off in the market.

Who doesn't believe in good luck? An entrepreneur can take classes and become a feng shui expert. The practice, which was first done by the Chinese. It helps keep evil sprits away and promises good fortune.

There are other ways of making money and the concept of working from the home has changed the way some people make a living. Those who are brave enough to try it may succeed just like other people out there. The question will be if the person is up to the challenge of going against convention.

eBay feedback - Establishing and Maintaining Your eBay Reputation

Description:

One of the most important safeguards for buying and selling on eBay is the feedback rankings. It can be the key to a successful eBay experience.

Content:

If you think of eBay as a social forum, Feedback is your popularity rating. For every transaction that takes place on eBay, buyers and sellers have the opportunity to rate eachother by leaving Feedback. Also before engaging in a transaction with a buyer or seller, eBay participants can view a buyer or seller's previous ratings in their Feedback Forum, and based on previous ratings and comments, determine whether or not they wish to do business with a particular buyer or seller.

So how does feedback work??

Each feedback rating consists of a positive, negative, or neutral rating, as well as a brief comment left by the buyer or seller. These ratings and comments allow other eBay Community members to get a good idea of how that rated individual does business and how previous customers who have bought or sold from them have been treated in the past.

Feedback ratings are cumulative, adding ‘points' to your Feedback score. One point is added for a positive rating, a point is deducted for a negative rating, and a neutral rating has no effect on the score. eBayers with a score of at least 10 are given a yellow star, and as you accumulate points you receive various stars of various colors, up to a score of 100,000 which gets a red shooting star. These stars are symbols of trust and reliability which other eBay members can use to evaluate you.

Why would I get negative feedback?

When a customer is dissatisfied with a purchase, or the way they were treated, this can result in negative feedback. Also, when a seller is unhappy with how a buyer behaved in the transaction, negative feedback can result as well. Things that may result in negative feedback are:

-failing to make a payment for an auction you won, making payments late, or ignoring that you won the auction

-misrepresenting a product you sell by lying or using a false picture in your item description

-taking too long to ship a product to an eBay buyer, or failing to send the product although payment has been made

-rude or offensive business practices

-making a payment that is fraudulent, or making a payment with a check that is not good

-anything that basically makes the buyer or seller unhappy with the transaction

How can I avoid negative feedback?

Negative feedback is an ugly thing, and no one really likes to see it or get it. Fortunately there are several things you can do to ensure to your best knowledge, that you are doing everything on your part to avoid negative feedback. This simple and practical advice can save you a bad reputation, and ensure your eBay success:

-Make sure the items you are selling are honestly represented in your item description. If you are using stock photos, make sure that it is EXACTLY what the item looks like. Do not fail to mention damage, malfunctions, or falsify factual information the customer needs to know

-Be sure to mail all items and payments ON TIME. No one likes to be kept waiting, and late payments/shipments are a sure bet that you'll probably never transact with that party again.

-Respond to all correspondence and questions IMMEDIATELY. Online customers usually do not like to wait more than 8 minutes for an email response. While this response time may be a little extreme for some people, keep in mind that the faster you get back to a potential customer, the greater the chance that they will bid on your item once their questions are answered. This is why it is important to have a thorough item description which can answer any possible questions the customer may have.

-It may seem like common sense, but it you receive a payment for an item, MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THROUGH! Either mail out the item within 24 hours or refund the customers money immediately.

Hope this was helpful! Good luck and Happy eBaying!
